so if your not streching your worshiping the sun
What? No. If you are not stretching you could be eating, sleeping, working, and so forth. If you are practicing yoga without the spirituality, you are not worshiping the sun.
In an article entitled “Is Yoga Debased by Secular Practice?,” it featured comments from Hindus who were upset that Americans are co-opting the sacred practice of Yoga by debasing and commercializing it. Throughout the article Hindus stated that Yoga is a Hindu religious practice and people should stop pretending that it isn’t just that.
So? The opinions of the Hindus do not alter reality. First, whether any group desires it or not, it is happening. Second, if you seriously wish to put forward this argument, then you admit that it has been debased and commercialized and rendered separate from its spirituality.
Why is there such a thing as “Christian” Yoga? It certainly has no scriptural or biblical basis to support it.
Neither does using porcelain toilets, and yet here we are…
Do you think that Hindus who practice yoga are doing it to attain rock hard abs? The answer is clearly no. The purpose is spiritual. It is not just the meditations; but many of the postures used are a form of sun worship. Does that sound Christian to you?
Religious/spiritual yoga sounds very unchristian. Fortunately, we are not speaking about that, but about secular yoga.
if your exercising your exercising but that is not yoga, which you keep pointing out, so worship and pose away at sun gods all you want that why the church disagrees with it.
No one is advocating worshiping anything other than God.
It is sad that this entire issue is actually just a terminology issue.
No one here is saying that spiritual yoga is okay. People are saying that secular yoga is okay.
I can only assume that you also think secular yoga is okay, because that is the Church’s position and the one of rationality. But, if you think the opposite, please say so so that we may move forward along that line.
the line is simple, i’m doing pilates, then the line i’m doing yoga, so your given others the impression you believe in sun Gods. isn’t that called giving scandal.
You actually are not. Maybe to those who are ignorant of what yoga is, but anything is problematic to someone. When I see someone doing yoga, I know they are doing yoga. That is all.
