I’m a EMHC and after mass I bring Communion to the homebound. I normally drive and either pray the rosary or reflect on the homily that I just heard until I have distributed all of the hosts. Today I got stuck in an unxpected traffic jam and turned on the radio to see if I could hear of any news and/or how far it backed up so that I could decide whether or not to take an alternative route or continue where I was.
As I was flipping through the stations, I heard a song that I liked and began listening to it – briefly forgetting that I had the Eucharist with me. Was that wrong?
Since I didn’t do it intentionally, I don’t think that it was a sin but now this raises another question: is it wrong to listen to radio while transporting the Eucharist?
To me, it doesn’t seem right but no one ever told me that it was wrong either. Which is why I am asking the question to get other insight into this.
