Is it okay, to make fun of devils?

“[Demons] are unimaginably powerful beings. They are angels, powerful angels,
in total rebellion against God and filled with hatred for God and all people.
And they especially hate Christians. I was told that they would gladly kill every one of us, if God did not restrain them from doing so.
So, respect the power that God originally bestowed on these beings, and do NOT
tease or taunt them.”

We all know that, but it still doesn’t make sense: Clearly devils seem to be restrained by asking God to protect you. But if that is all it takes, then it seems that their powers are like a trifle.

Just “asking God to protect you” doesn’t always restrain them.
To me, it is a mystery why that is so, but it is.
Again, I remind you of Padre Pio and the Cure of Ars,
among many other Saints who were viciously attacked
by evil spirits.

Be careful.

God bless,

Oh yes. Read “The Screwtape Letters” by CS Lewis. It’s an incredibly amazing book with many interpretations, but it definitely makes fun of devils.
This book brings up a question - do each of us have an attendant demon in opposition to our individusl guardian angel? Is each of us in the middle of a tug’o’war?

Still, I ask you, is it true that you are guaranteed to prevail against an evil angel if you ask God to help you (which takes many different forms, exorcism for instance).

So it follows (@ least seemingly) that it would be unreasonable to be afraid of devils, since if there is one thing in life that you are guaranteed to overcome, this would seem to be it.

The only thing to be afraid of seems to be temptations, (which are sometimes due to devils) but even then is not faith all-effectual?

Second question but not unrelated (and I’m still taking answers for the first): IF you don’t take the devils seriously enough, then is that a mortal sin?
it is no sin to Take the righteous serious, so then i would not assume it is good to take devils seriously, if God gives you a moment where you can laugh at thier attempts to get your eyes of Jesus, off of what God is doing, then dont be ashamed to laugh with God when it is appropriate, but try not to put too much time or attention on the unholy spirits. just let them go and dont worry, Jesus and ALL of His have to laugh sometimes too, but we dont need to go there when its not nessacary wouldnt you say? why go there if you dont have to? But if God lets you laugh at something that could otherwise overwhelm you, i wont worry, just try not to make that the unrighteous spirits your focus…thats my opinion, God didnt tell me what to say to you or what not to…

I’d say: why would we want to? We can certainly save our time, our effort and our sense of humour on more worthy matters.

The Scriptural response is certainly rebuke and resistance, and not mockery.

The Old Testament does contain a number of passages that are biting satires of idolatry, such as the Letter of Jeremiah and some passages from the prophet Isaiah. However, all these passages deal with idols - human creations of wood, stone or metal, that have no power but that their adherents pray to futilely.

Demons are a different matter altogether. While I’m not someone who attributes everything to evil spirits or angels (human sin is, alas, a much more common explanation of the evils in the world), the appropriate response would be to resist or rebuke them - or in the case of a proven possession, an exorcism.

“why would we want to?”

Well I figure there are some reasons to have a certain level of contempt: 1) soldiers of one country have a lack of respect for soldiers of another country due to their fanatic zeal for their mother country -much more should one have a fanatic zeal for God. 2) reason is the captain of the will, but we supposedly lack reasons to truly fear devils. So the will will not be apprehensive towards them either. 3) for the glory of God, if some evil can be moved, then knock it over. But the devils can be defeated by God-backed humans. So we should not fear devil vs human combat.

Well usually, soldiers disrespect other soldiers because it tends to make the enemy less of a threat to you which eases your mind at fighting against them, and it dehumanizes your enemy justifying your killing them in war. Yet, we are called to love our enemies and want the best for them. This would at least mean that we should not stoop to their level and to not waste our time insulting them. The best regard to them is to realize that they are there, and that they are trying to tempt us. Therefore if we want to retaliate, we should simply reject their tempation.
