Is it okay to not say the Rosary daily?

I would also like to know if it is not possible to pray for Our Lady’s intercession in our lives and have a wonderful relationship with her without saying the Rosary daily.

Is the Rosary the only way to include our Lady in our life?

I do think there are two separate questions here, the question of the Rosary as a devotion and the question or our Lady’s role in our salvation.

**Edited: **JKRH, To speak to your comment about comments, I agree with you.

I also think that converts are more likely to engage in mental prayer as opposed to “devotions” or vocalizations because we are used to doing that.

So even though I say vocal prayers, like the Angelus, it is easier for me to just, well… pray. 🙂

No one is going to convince me it is harder for EVERYONE to get to heaven without saying the Rosary daily.
No one is saying you will not get to heaven without saying the daily Rosary. But as I have pointed out, the saints - those who are in heaven - and the popes all say this is by far the most efficacious way and the surest way. Why wouldn’t you choose it, and why would you denigrate it in any way?

It’s not the only way, TrueLight, but next to the Little Office (as it is liturgical prayer) it is the best way.

The Rosary is the prayer given to us directly by the Blessed Mother. She has told us in every approved apparation to always pray the Rosary. How can you reject her very own prayer and yet not reject her? I don’t see how that is possible.

What do you suppose is the “requirement for salvation” perhaps the CCC gives us the answer. And after you read it you quickly realize what is “required” is the “MINIMUM” in other words weekly Mass, Holy Days of Obigation etc…MInimum.

If you approach the topic from this perspective, than “required” means minimum. I’m positive thats not the way to approach salvation. “OK what do I have to do?”🤷

What does the Bible say…Pray Unceasingly. What does the Catholic Church say about the Rosary? What do the Saints state about it?

Human term doesn’t explain Gods action. God didn’t need human birth. He could have just said BE. And it would have been done.

All Grace came through Mary by God as Christ. Biblically this became the issue with Lucifer, St Michael and God in Heaven. Lucifer didn’t like Gods plan of Christ and Our Lady. In fact He refused the very idea, but what did the Arch-Angels do?

Before anyone knew any of this Mary knew this. Instead of man looking up to God, God humbled himself and Mary looked down at God in Her arms. Thats how much trust God had in Mary. So how much should you have? Thus the CC correctly understood realizes we need to go through to Mary to God in humble respect…Just as God did.

All Grace flows through Our Lady since she is the Neck of the Mystical Body, the New Ark, the Gate, Full of Grace and thus the Litany of the Blessed Mother.

Peace

Did you read the quotes from St. Louis Marie de Montfort? Have you read the other quotes I have posted here from the popes and the saints? They are all in agreement with Laudate.
Have I not thanked you for the quotes? Have I not stated that they are good and helpful? Then why would you ask me if I read them??
I have to wonder if you are reading the things that I am offering.
I think you are misunderstanding a major point.
And I think that you, and Laudate are refusing to address the one, simple point that I have asked to be addressed. The insulting remarks about the path that is Christ.
Christ is our advocate with the Father. It is in him, through him and with him that we come to the Father. It is his Sacrifice that we offer to the Father to appease for our sins. Mary is our advocate to Christ. Christ came to us through Mary. And as St. Louis says, it is through her that we go to Christ. Mary is a conduit to salvation - Christ is that salvation. Mary is called co-redemptrix because she was a part of Christ’s saving sacrifice from the moment he was conceived. It was her “Yes” that gave us Christ. Christ could have chosen any way he wanted to come to us, but he chose Mary. Mary suffered with him in a way that no one ever has. Just as Abraham offered Isaac on Mt. Sinai, Mary offered Christ on Calvary to the Father. She was formed completely and perfectly in Christ. If we are formed in her, we will also be formed perfectly in Christ. With Mary, nothing is about her. It is all about her Son. That is why she is our perfect advocate with Christ. When you go to Mary, you go to Christ. She will never fail to lead you to her Son. We can never be sure of that when we try to do it on our own.
When we are at Mass, we are at the foot of the Cross with Mary. That is a major reason why the Protestants do not have devotion to Mary. They do not have the Eucharist.
I do hope you will give some thought and prayer to this. We have been given a great gift in Mary, as all the saints will testify to. Why not take this wonderful gift given to us by Christ as he was dying on the Cross?
Again - I have nothing but respect and Love for My Mother. I have nothing but respect and Love for those who have great devotion to her in their prayer lives etc. I just wish that this same love and respect would be reciprocated to those who’s spiritual journey and who’s choices of devotions is different from that.

Unfortunately that does not seem to be the case here since no one seems to be interested in redressing the insult to Christ, The way the truth and the light, that was levied earlier in this thread. The insult that called His way dark and rough and dangerous.
If I sound harsh here, I apologize, but I have tried to be firm but charitable in my responses, trying to show how such comments upset me. This has not worked. So, at the risk of being uncharitable, I must be blunt.
Laudate’s post was, to me, an insult to my Lord and King - an insult that I could not let pass. What’s more, it’s tone and terminology, in my opinion, smacked of Mary worship. It may not have been intended that way but that is what came across. I have sought to gently point this out but have been ignored. Ignored in the same manner that you feel that I have ignored you.

So perhaps we ALL need to step back and undertake some prayerful reflection on these matters.

Peace
James

Didn’t this exact same topic just come up the past week? Where did that one go. I think the OP was even worded the same?

Peace

You sound very confused to me. I believe you truly want to honor our Lord, but for whatever reason, you are rejecting the easiest and surest path to him, which is His Mother. He came to you through His Mother. He then gave her to you as the path to him. Please ask yourself why you are not accepting this.
Let us for a moment consider this idea of “Path” since this is the thing that I found troubling in Laudate’s comments earlier.

We are taught that Mary Points to Christ. I am sure that when the saints speak of Mary as being a Path to Christ, that is what they refer to…Mary pointing to Christ.
So let me ask this…If Mary is a Path to Christ, and we travel that Path TO Christ, does not our Blessed Mother then pass us off TO Christ? In other words, once Mary leads us to Christ, Christ becomes our Leader and we follow Christ with Mary and the Saints.

Now - Can one be presented to Christ, and Follow on Christ’s path before death? Or is it your belief that one must follow Mary until she can present you to Christ AT death?

Peace
James

Absolutely! If you read “Story of a Soul,” St. Therese had a very difficult time with the rosary, often falling asleep due to the inability to stay focused. Yet St. Therese LOVED Mary, and had a vision from her when she was healed of her near-death illness.
I’m sure St Teresa had a wonderful devotion to our lady, and I’m sure she said the Rosary, but so far in all her writings I have read so far, her focus is not on saying the Rosary, but in spending time in mental prayer.

Now if mental prayer for you only means saying the Rosary, great! [It doesn’t mean that, [/COLOR]TL]
You may not have read Way of Perfection yet, TL, but she has put vocal prayers (which includes the rosary) as the lowest manner of praying, without demeaning those who have no ability for mental prayer. But yes, mental prayer is the door to contemplation, wherefrom God’s most efficacious help comes in advancing toward Union with God.

These are very young members who have little understanding of spirituality that are railing and causing such dissension here. True love for Mary and Christ would cease from placing such heavy burdens on others’ consciences.

I am a Carmelite - belonging to the very order of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. One who is called to this vocation already has a deep love for Mary, which is a necessary sign for admittance. However, in our communities, the focus is NOT on the Rosary or St. Louis’s teachings, but on Teresa’s profound, sublime exposition of mental prayer and contemplation. Our Rule of Life does not include a daily rosary. The essentials to which we profess are daily mass, daily Liturgy of the Hours, and a half-hour of MENTAL prayer.

St. Teresa was not made a Doctor of the Church with regard to PRAYER, without good reason. 😉

A Catholic,
Obviously we are too far apart in our understandings and in our journeys to effectively communicate. I cannot even get a simple answer to what is basically a “Yes or No” question. Just why that should be, I don’t know - but there it is.

I wish you and yours a very Merry and Blessed Christmas.

I have not just given you my understanding, but the quotes of countless saints and popes. I am very sorry you cannot accept it. I do hope that you will one day come to understand and accept our Blessed Mother. Once you do, you will find an easy and sure path to Jesus Christ.

Merry Christmas.

God grant me patience…

How many times have I said on THIS thread that I Love my Mother…Yet you declare that I don’t accept her…It’ no wonder that we cannot communicate…

St. Therese also fell asleep during adoration. I don’t think that means we should do without adoration. No offense, and with all due regard to the fact that you are a Carmelite, but to even suggest that St. Therese of Liseux would say that the Rosary is not of utmost importance is to indicate that you do not fully understand her spirituality. From Father John Hardon:

*Thérèse was born January 2, 1873, at Alencon. The following day, in the Church of Our Lady, she was reborn in the life of divine grace, with the name Marie-Francoise-Thérèse. Less than five years later, her mother died at the early age of forty-six, and Thérèse’s character underwent a complete change. From “having been so vivacious and expansive,” she became “timid, meek, and sensitive to an extreme.” The void left in her heart by the loss of her earthly mother drew her instinctively towards her heavenly mother Mary. When she made her first confession at the age of five, her confessor exhorted her to a filial love of Mary. “I remember,” she says, “the exhortation with which he then urged me above all to a devotion to the Blessed Virgin; and I promised to redouble my affection towards her who now held such an important place in my heart. Then I handed him my rosary to bless, and left the confessional so free and happy that I can say I had never before in my life experienced such joy.” *

In regards to the bolded section, I apologize for my part in this.

But you don’t accept her as our advocate to Jesus Christ. That is a big gulf. I’m sorry it makes you angry.

Whoooooaaaa! My goodness you paint with an extremely prejudicial and broad brush, my man. You, a lay person, would presume to pass judgment on a Carmelite? And tell me I don’t know St. Therese? And twist my words to suggest such nonsense about St. Therese?

You are creating havoc in this thread.

Read again, please. The rosary is NOT part of Carmelite Rule. That’s not to say many of the members do not pray it. Please do not twist this.

precisely where did I say that

Peace
James
I guess I’ve misunderstood, but I thought that is where our disagreement comes in. You are arguing that we should go directly to Christ, and I am saying that the best, easiest and surest path is through our Blessed Mother. You say you find that insulting. Have I misunderstood?
