My church is planning on selling rosaries after Mass on Sunday to raise money to pay off the church’s morgage. Is this sinful?
Catholics are not supposed to sell things on Sundays. Please explain why you think it would be sinful. Thanks.
Fair question as Jesus did chase the money-changers out of the Temple. Yet we have collections taken up during Mass. Hmmm.Catholics are not supposed to sell things on Sundays.

Jesus chased the money changers out of the temple because they were cheating the people. When operating ethically, they provided a needed service. This is an example of a sin becoming a sacrilege because of where and why it is done. Plenty of people cheat at their business, and that’s bad enough, but when they do it in the temple, it is also sacrilege, and that’s why Jesus tossed them out. He told them they had made His Father’s house a “den of thieves.” To call legitimate merchants thieves would be hyperbole that is not characteristic of Jesus and His way of speaking.Fair question as Jesus did chase the money-changers out of the Temple. Yet we have collections taken up during Mass. Hmmm.
