Hey everyone. I know that we are never supposed to wish evil on another. However, is it okay to wish bad things to happen to an evil organization such as Planned Parenthood?

Pray for conversion of the orgainization. It is a ‘mangement decision’ to handle the organization subsequently.

How “bad” is “bad”? As an example: I think praying for them to go out of business is OK and laudable, but hoping that PP headquarters gets bombed or destroyed by an earthquake and seeing everyone in the building die is not.

Of course it is. I wish for truly awful things to happen to the Yankees, Mets and Braves every day!

(Hey, I’m a Phillies fan, give me a break!:D)

When I say bad things, I don’t mean that I hope they get bombed or anything. I just hope that they go out of business.

No worries – I wasn’t accusing you of doing any such thing. 🙂 I just wanted to set the parameters of the discussion.

Now that we have our parameters, I’d say praying they go out of business is just fine. People with medical degrees are needed elsewhere more than in an abortion mill. Of course, as others have written, we should pray for their conversion of heart and mind.

Closing PP is not a bad thing. The good would be no one performing abortions there, no one at PP working toward future abortions, no quick access for abortion minded women, no organization for legitimizing the abortion mindset in the culture, and no one being financially compensated for abortion. It would thus stop the sinfulness inherent in the actions at PP, but PP is not sinful itself, sin exists in a deeper context.

That context is people, as organizations do not exist outside of the people starting it initially and those who continue the mission for which it operates. If everyone were converted, PP would not open the next day, unless they actually do provide services other than abortion. Lila Rose failed to find them.

The same concept applies for all companies, groups, or industries, in that organizations like these are based in peoples hearts, minds, and will to accept the idea that founded it. Closing all PP’s will not stop abortion but opening hearts to God’s Grace will, but the closing would be good for the reasons stated above.

I will definitely pray for the conversion of the employees of Planned Parenthood in the future.

Gotta say, Rascalking:

I used to like things you wrote.

But you are a Phillies fan.

I cannot agree with you anymore.

You want bad things to happen to the METS?

They are my team.

They need no ASSISTANCE to have bad things happen to them. Disasters strike weekly.

Because they are the Mets.

No further explanation is possible.

Seriously, we should never wish bad things on an organization.

Except when the organization is the NY Yankees.

It is morally acceptable to root for them to lose.

No further explanation is necessary.

PS. See what good Lee & Halliday did the Phillies.

I pray for good things to happen to evil entities. If it comes from God, it is good. May God bless Planned Parenthood and all those who engage in evil.

You don’t fight evil with evil.

We have to make the distinction between the organization, which is, after all just a name on paper, and the people in that organization. Of course we can hope that PP will fail–in it’s mission of aborting and contracepting babies, in encouraging women to get those things, in “educating” our young people that the only way out of a difficult situation is to destroy their children, in influencing our legislators, in perpetrating their “services” within our society and around the world. To desire the end of those things is not at all “evil” but extremely good and right.

I hope for the people involved in PP that they see the error of their diabolical philsophy of death and leave the organization so that it no longer has any supporters/workers. To pray for the end of such horrors is holy, right and proper.

We shouldn’t pray for bad things to happen to the individuals who make up the Bad Organizations.

But I don’t think it is any sin to pray that,
after everyone who works there has gone home for the night
and the building is empty,
that God cause the earth to open up and
swallow the headquarters of Planned Parenthood.
I think that would send a strong signal,
just as did the parting of the waters by Moses.

I disagree. An organization is by nature made up of individuals united for an end, or cause, or goal. No one here is interested in doing away with a name on paper. We want to get individuals to stop sinning and scandalizing others.

I suppose the OP and I could differ on the idea of what “bad things” are, but still, “bad things” don’t come from God, who is pure Love and Goodness. I want good things to happen to PP, i.e. its employees and supporters, like conversion and penance.

The only “bad thing” the OP wanted was for PP to shut down. No one is talking about bad things happening to persons, but to the idea behind the organization that teaches death is the answer to the more difficult situations in life.

I understand. But like I wrote, shutting down PP isn’t bad.
