Well remember the parable where the 3 sons are given money by the father & later asked what they did… where the eldest who made the given money the most was also given the money the one who mafe nothing …
and Jesus says " Who ever has more more will be given to him"

Yes it is quoted, I guess in PROVERBS…
something on the line… God keeps those whose Soul is to be saved from worldly riches…
Please provide an example where I said that someone who is pursuing extreme wealth is more likely to sin?

I said that there is potential to sin if your pursue extreme wealth, but I did not make any comparisons.

So let’s see your evidence.

YEAH! They should be refer to as the “holy, pure and saintly wealthy.” After all, prosperity is a sure sign of election and poverty is a certain sign of reprobation to damnation. The rich are saints walking among us who are living the joy of this life while they await the joys of the next while the poor are damned souls awaiting the punishment they rightly deserve for being wicked and lazy, criminals all.

Make sure your sarcast-O-meter is working before replying.

I think I need a bath after typing that. Blech!
Well, rich folks like Bill Gates hire a lot of people and advance the state of the art of computer software. Many of those people that they hired changed jobs and set up their own companies to advance the technology still further and in different directions.

Poor people don’t hire anyone. Poor people don’t create jobs. And poor people rarely advance the state of the art.

If you are looking for a job, a rich person who has been running a successful company is a lot more likely to hire you to work for his company than a someone who isn’t running a company.

Two brothers that I know were doing ok with their company. As a speculation they bought some stock in a distressed company. They had no interest in running it. Somewhat later the chairman of the board of the distressed company asked them to take the jobs of president and chairman. They really weren’t interested, but reluctantly agreed.

They turned it around almost immediately. Just by visiting all the subsidiaries and operations. Talking with the managers. Making good decisions. [The company could not afford any more bad decisions.] As a result of their improvements (without layoffs), the stock price went up from $5 to $35.

Then, as they were pretty elderly by then, they turned the company over to others and cashed out.

So, their wealth increased a lot and they preserved the jobs of more than 20,000 people.

True story.

Ah…poor chaps…lost their souls. 😉 😛

I am a salesman. Due to the nature of my job, these are questions I have dealt with and still deal with. I have two quotes out to customers right now that could make my income grow about 20x of what it is right now. Now, it is my job to make such quotes, because the companies I represent are paying me to help them close business. If I close those orders, I will have more income than I need. Should I have said “no bid” for fear of my soul? If I don’t quote them, then I will not be representing my companies…that is also a sin. Oh, the HUMANITY!!
Relax just give all the money to charity… you need to have plenty of money to be charity by the way. For example, I do not have the financial resources to donate to this charity:
The Democracy Alliance will act as a financial clearing house. Its staff members and board of directors will develop a lineup of established and proposed groups that they believe will develop and promote ideas on the left. To fulfill their million-dollar pledge, each partner must agree to give $200,000 or more a year for at least five years to alliance-endorsed groups.

I just regret that I could not impact the world in the positive way that George Soros has done. Maybe if you have more money, you can do it.

You do not have the financial resources because you do not work.

What about drug lords and dictators? How about Sadaam Hussien? He gave people jobs. Do you defend rich people like that?

so I guess you just love rich American conservative capitalists!

A friend of mine once complained to Mother Theresa that he had no money.

She said, “Don’t worry about it. God has plenty of money.”

So, what are we to make of that?

God has plenty of money.

Hmmmmmmm.

What do YOU make of it, since you brought it up??? 🤷 🤷

Let’s define filthy rich as over $100 million. Although, if someone has a different number in mind, feel free to give it and defend it.
.
Sure it is…just look at the Pope - $100 million is chump change to him & I think Pope John Paul II did not lose his soul because of it.

It depends on your method of obtaining the money for one thing and it also depends on how you use it once you have it - for selfishness or for Philanthropy.

I’ve never heard Vern claim that rich American liberal capitalists will lose their souls but the conservative ones won’t. What do politics have to do with the issue of wealth/greed?

It has nothing to do with the issue, but everything to do with the attitudes of the posters.

Regarding how George Soros uses his money, I think he uses it for noble causes. However, the way he acquires his money might not be so noble.
