The point that Original Sin should be gotten rid of is the Meditation heading. Please notice the word “not”
“We must now rebuild on a foundation of original goodness, not any original curse or sin.”
Also, if the words “Original Sin” are not in Scripture, that is good reason to omit Original Sin.
“and the words “original sin” are not in the New Testament.”

Here is a clear sentence. Please notice the words "not on a foundation of original curse or sin aka Original Sin.
“We must now rebuild on a foundation of original goodness, and not on a foundation of original curse or sin.”

Hi, Granny!

Wait… does this “Priest” not know that “Holy Trinity” does not appear once in Scriptures?.. or the term theology or exegesis or Sacrament… nor is there a single place where Jesus Calls the Twelve ‘My Apostles?’

…is this truly a Catholic Priest or a “Bible-only” crusader?

I focus on “rebuilding” because many Catholics apparently do not understand that rebuilding means getting rid of basic Catholic doctrines. In my personal opinion, one of the notable Progressive Christians takes advantage of Catholics not knowing a lot. I immediately turned off his video when he insulted me as being dumb about the visible Catholic Church on earth. Definitely, I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer. However, I am fortunate to learn from the dead generation who learned common sense in regard to Catholic doctrines.

Please note that human nature was wounded as a result of Original Sin. Human nature does not continue to change after a major Ecumenical Catholic Church Council guided by the wisdom of the Holy Spirit which defined Original Sin.

And what do our well educated views, good and bad, have to do with Catholic doctrines? According to a notable Progressive Christian.

Views of sin have been changed by Progressive Christians and a few ordinary folk. That idea is another way of getting Catholics to leave the Church founded by Jesus Christ.
My advice is to stop following a notable Progressive Christian even when he says something very true and very important. That “truth” is simply the icing on a bad cake.

Better advice is to follow the words said at Sunday Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The profession of the Creed is important. Listen to the Priest read from the book. Listen to the prayers said by the Priest.

Listen to you heart loving Jesus. He is our Good Shepherd holding us in His arms.
Hi, Granny!

…not just view on sin but also on Salvation and Worship–‘do nothing,’ ‘coast through,’ and chant ‘Jesus is my Lord’ and not only are you “saved” but you cannot lose “salvation” no matter what–it’s the sin free clause-o-matic-eternally-secured-feel-good-theology… seasoned with a healthy dose of ‘universalism’ and ‘we’ve got the world at our feet!’

I think it renders them less important in some peoples lives.

Like I said, what was once seen as very sinful has become pretty much the norm for many peoples lives, even within Catholicism.
Hi!

Yet, the wages of sin are not set by popular consensus; regardless of man’s machinations the wages of sin are still death!

As mothers in my youth would ask. If your friend jumped off the bridge, would you also jump off the bridge? Get real. It is time to have the guts to be a Catholic.

Hi, Granny!

…not to mention the contradiction that, 'God could not have created Adam and Eve because the human genome could not have been contained in just two reps; all the while subscribing to the 'monkey-like" female that is the progenitor of primates and homo sapiens–how contrived is that? An all Omnipotent Being could not have Created Adam and Eve (given the complexity of the human genome); yet, blind and dumb “nature” orchestrated the evolution of all primates and homo lines by the enhancement/manipulation of one “monkey-like” female creature… yeah, not reaching at all! :banghead::banghead::banghead:

There may be a misunderstanding of the words human genome.

Adam and Eve began life with an active genome. Other creatures also had an active genome. One could say that the genome indicates an individual in a species.

And where is the “monkey-like” female creature? Before or after the Homo/Pan Split?
Usually the physical visual steps to a modern anatomy are placed in the hominin line following the Homo/Pan Split

We need to understand the general role of the evolution model in order to find the conflict with the Catholic doctrine of Original Sin. We also need to understand the Catholic teachings in relationship to both Original Sin and basic evolution theory.

The tiny evolution point, often forgotten, is that the evolution model relies on indiscriminate, random breeding, humanizing, large polygenesis source, happy, free running, large populations.

Hi, Granny!

I’m quite pedestrian… so I often put it in my mouth… moving away from all the technical:

It has been claimed that the human species could not have come from A and E (not enough material to produce the variations in the species from just two agents); yet, simultaneously, it is argued that a single creature is the origin of both primates and humans (here, it does not matter that it is a single creature that contains all the building blocks for not one but several species).

Hope this clears (me) it.

Nope not jumped off the bridge so far…

I am real, living in the real world, and having a hard time watching everybody I know do exactly as they wish…good for them…blah blah…

Thanks.

Hi!

…no; it is not good for them; that is why Job prayed for the sins that his children may have committed.

Though there’s very little we can do to convict others (even ourselves, sometimes) of their sin; we can pray that the Holy Spirit Guide them to the Truth (Jesus).

…so, while I feel for you, please don’t allow the bad example of others affect you; you, as a Catholic, have the responsibility to Preach Salvation (through prayer if no other means is possible) onto the world!

That claim is a tad unusual.

I bet that only two persons on CAF could attempt to find the real research. Well, maybe there might be seven people who have knowledge regarding the famous 1995 science claim in regard to Adam and Eve.

Hi, Granny!

…could the author not be intimating (as I have expressed) that there’s a built-in component to Creation that compels things to Unfold as they were Designed?

Maran atha!

Angel
Have you actually studied the author of the first three intellectual chapters of Genesis? What did you find out? Which verses were your best evidence?

Does anyone know what the “wolf in sheep’s clothing” is teaching?

Since, technically, there can be more than one very polite and charitable “wolf in sheep’s clothing” on CAF which is a free speech public message board…one can present more than one teaching.

Considering the lack of knowledge regarding the Science of Human Evolution, I will be very surprised if anyone can take apart this article which definitely has at least one “wolf” type comment. In fact, I will be surprised if anyone can relate to the first three chapters of Genesis. And I will land on the floor in surprise if anyone can relate the “wolf” to something in Humani Generis.

The above article link is a small example of the lack of complete knowledge regarding the Science of Human Evolution.

The lack of understanding the article is an example of the lack of Catholic logic and Catholic common sense.

Hi, Granny!

I have this *je ne sais quoi *thing going for me (more like Murphy’s law); I’m allergic to most things including cigarettes… so I’m a magnet for smokers who would seem to trek distances to smoke right next to me so that they can light up… the same with stuff like this; I meet up with people who need to point things out… the argument against Adam and Eve (maybe not from the scientific field [lately] but from the grunts has hold ‘no way! …not with all the human variations… not from just those two;’ while they lap up the common ancestry theory as fact.

Here’s what I just googled; granted I have just scanned through:
We come to discover that some human genes have over 800 alleles
, all of which seem to be purposely functional. By the standard genetic model, **Adam and Eve couldn’t have carried more than 4 alleles between them **for any given gene.

This is a major problem for creationism as presently expressed.

The only way to explain all the alleles that humans carry as having come from 2 people-Adam and Eve, is if there is a master human genome stored in the 98% of “junk” DNA that we don’t understand yet. (creation.com/adam-eve-races-genetics)

As for Adam - there was never an Adam, and there could never have been. The reason is that we are all too different. **Our genetics could never have come from a single couple, an Adam and Eve. ** (That’s a good thing for us, as the offspring of one couple would not have had enough genetic diversity to survive for long). (quora.com/If-humans-evolved-from-apes-then-where-did-Adam-come-from)
…yeah, haven’t found the missing link (one monkey-like fem that was the mother of all; yet, I think that what I have come across is the wrong understanding of evolution–1 single female as the source for evolutionary changes; still, here’s what the closest:
A newly discovered fossil ape skull is providing clues about the common ancestor of all living apes, including our own species. The fossil – small enough to fit comfortably in one hand – belongs to an infant, and is the most complete extinct ape skull in the fossil record so far.
We now know a large amount about the evolution of the human line since it split from the chimp lineage about 7 million years ago, but the earlier stages of ape evolution – particularly the split between all living apes – are still hazy. The fossil skull throws light on that period of ape evolution. (newscientist.com/article/2143384-ancient-skull-belonged-to-a-cousin-of-the-ape-common-ancestor/
)
While arguments have changed over the years, in the general population, there’s that ‘not Adam and Eve, but yeah human’s and apes must have that common ancestry…’ that in spite of clear understanding that these are theories based on yet fully understood and proven data:
Rebeca Cann, one of the original authors of the study (mentioned above) had also said that paleoanthropologists could never tell for certain if a specific fossil actually left any descendants. On the other hand, there was "100 percent certainty that genes in modern populations have a history that can be examined and will trace back in absolute time to real ancestors"
. (mhrc.net/mitochondrialEve.htm)

As for how many wolves, one would have to count the wolf’s personal staff,
employees, companions, and ordinary folk who spread the message.

As for all the interesting science information. Thank you. I learned a lot.

However, the only science I am interested in is the evolution doctrine on originating populations which is applied to the human species.

I have not heard of this; there’s a Church Doctrine on evolution?

Hi, Granny!

I think that the topic is intimidating; perhaps if you word it better… you also leave too much room for engagement as the thought you present is too ambiguous… zeroing in on what it is that you have found on the subject of your link might open up dialogue.
