Is it true that a lot of Catholic priests are gay?

I don’t think we will be able to accurately know this unless and until the public disapproval from at least some segments of the Catholic Church goes away and priests are allowed to say their orientations without a fear of being looked askance at, if not outight reprisals.

In any event, some priests have stated they are gay. As long as a priest is celibate, his natural orientation does not matter. Fr. Mychal Judge was gay and was quite able to minister both to AIDS victims and very masculine firemen before he died in the course of his duties as a priest.

There’s no way to know an accurate percentage, but yes, there are many.

How would we possibly know a if a lot of Catholic priests are gay?

We don’t know if there are many compared to the general population who are not priests or if there is the same, or few.

I’ve seen no evidence of this about Fr. Judge, other than hearsay.

I really haven’t seen any evidence other than hearsay. Even if he was, he still never broke his vow of celibacy. I’m not here to spread a political agenda (I am the wrong person to do that)

I don’t know about you, but I don’t take an account of who my priest would have sex with if he was not committed to chastity. I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to ask a priest that. None of my business.

A man that has homosexual tendencies is not to be allowed into seminary. He is disordered and is in need of psychiatric help. The disordered tendency will affect his ability to give proper council to his flock. Simply remaining celibate is not enough. Sadly many do not remain celibate. This is why they should not be in seminary and certainly in the priesthood in the first place. Check out the catechism and longstanding rules the Church has had in place for some time. They are there for a reason.

First:
What do you mean by ‘a lot’?
Compared to the clergy of other denominations?
Compared to the general population?
Do you mean those afflicted with SSA who resist it, or only sexually active gays?
And what evidence are we depending upon?

Second:
The enemies of the Church will seize any club with which to beat her. This includes finding real problems and exaggerating them out of all proportion to the truth, on the principle that a lie is more plausible when there is a kernel of truth within it.

Why? If God has called him and he will be leading a celibate life, how is that different from a heterosexual man with the same calling?

Homosexuality is disordered and against nature. Remaining celibate when gay and remaining celibate when straight are not the same thing.

This is a manifestation of the secularists worship of their idol named “sex”. If somebody is a virgin the secularists shun them. They worship sex as their false god. It consumes them and makes them think something is wrong with a person who chooses to be celibate.

This is complete and utter nonsense.

Edit for clarity: Your second sentence is nonsense. You should have stopped after the first sentence.
