Is it wrong to do online shopping on Sunday?

Nobody has argued against that but you have telling us we should not shop on Sundays. If you don’t want to shop on Sundays that is fine. It’s your choice but don’t say to us we should not shop.

I have not said a person should not shop on Sunday at all. If you go back and read my posts I said shopping beyond necessity.

There are times when it is necessary.

Oh, I get it.

I was not talking about the busyness; i was talking about the stress. I didn’t stress.

I turn no blind eye to those working on Sunday, but like pouring a gallon of water into the ocean, my being at the mall or not being at the mall has no impact whatsoever. I have a daughter who stresses over shopping, and it doesn’t matter what day of the week it is. And I find shopping at the mall - which tends to be open-ended as opposed to gift specific, to be very recreational and relaxing.

I don’t believe you are getting it. It is not about busyness. It is not about stress. Busyness and stress can come any day and anywhere. It is about wanting to keep holy Sunday and enter in to the Sunday rest that God asks of us. Yes there was stress and busyness on those Sundays but the stress and busyness was something that should be very limited on the day in which God and the Church says we should rest.

I was merely pointing out that it very well could be a Christian at the mall who is not resting because of our world’s drive for money and so has to work. Even if you are just a gallon of water or even a tablespoon of water in the ocean, I don’t think God takes the excuse, “everyone was doing it”.

I think if you must shop or even eat out on Sunday, try to see the worker behind the counter or the waitress at the restaurant as someone who that day is not resting. We don’t know if they are a Christian or not, so we have no way of knowing if they would be at Church or not if they weren’t working at the mall.

CCC 2169 In speaking of the sabbath Scripture recalls creation: “For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and hallowed it.”

CCC 2172 God’s action is the model for human action. If God “rested and was refreshed” on the seventh day, man too ought to “rest” and should let others, especially the poor, “be refreshed.” The sabbath brings everyday work to a halt and provides a respite. It is a day of protest against the servitude of work and the worship of money.

CCC 2173 With compassion, Christ declares the sabbath for doing good rather than harm, for saving life rather than killing.The sabbath is the day of the Lord of mercies and a day to honor God.

I do not know about shopping but when I decide to work on Sunday I don’t have success.
No matter what I do.
Sunday is for rest, prayer, church meeting and Divine contemplation.
