I don’t know who taught you that, but the Church doesnt teach that now.
Growing up in Catholic schools.I don’t know who taught you that, but the Church doesnt teach that now.
Some Catholic websites have it set up so that you can place an order on Sunday but the order doesn’t get processed until Monday. Perhaps CAF does that. I do not know. It would be good if they did, otherwise someone hired is probably being told they have to work on Sundays. So you think this website encourages sin by offering sales on sunday?
As I said, it could be it is not being processed until Monday. I do not know. Just because they are doing it doesn’t make it right. If you go to the shop section right now they are offering a BOGO sale on Saturday and SUNDAY this week.
If it is a necessity I think it okay. In all charity, I do not know what modern times or the Pharisees have to do with it. It’s just about continuing to honor Sunday as the Lord’s day. In America we are used to shops being open due to becoming so secularized but in some other countries, that are more Catholic, a good portion of shops are closed. We can eat at McDonald’s tomorrow too or buy gas, or a tv, or a christmas present for Father at Macy’s. These are not sinful things in modern times.
We do not know if the people here on the forum are shopping here, and definitely not running the shop.Especially on a website that does it! It seems so hypocritical to me.
Hmm, you could be right. I may take that in to consideration. But in the spirit of moral consistency you should not post on the forums on a sunday. It isn’t necessary work you are contributing to any webmasters or workers at Catholic answers.
It’s the largest online retailer in the United States.Wow! Warehouse employees aren’t even allowed bathroom breaks? What employer gets away with THAT? Forcing someone to work who desperately has to relieve him- or herself, and subjecting that person to the possible humiliation of wetting or soiling, is not only indecent, it’s abuse. What about the employee who has a medical condition that requires toileting as soon as it’s necessary? I wouldn’t work for a tyrant like that!
For your information Christians do not keep the Sabbath. That is on Saturday and Jews keep the Sabbath.Aleteia — Catholic Spirituality, Lifestyle, World News, and Culture – 14 Jul 19
Why the Lord’s Day should be separate from the weekend
In 1998, St. John Paul II wrote an entire apostolic letter on “The Lord’s Day,” in which he expounded on the Catholic observance of the Sabbath and what that looks like in the mod…
I did not know sympathy strikes were illegal. Thank you for clarifying this. For starters, it’s illegal. Going on strike because of a labor dispute you are not party to is not a protected labor practice, which means your employer can punish you for participating in such a strike, up to and including firing you for being AWOL. Second, shutting down production for labor disputes they are not a party to is not in the workers’ interests, as it reduces their income and increases the cost of living. Even in a labor dispute you are party to, striking should be a last resort because it hurts everybody, including the workers on strike.
