Is it wrong to give dignitaries special seating at Mass?

Yes. Very sad. That you seem to think that you’re somehow less important in the eyes of God than someone else.
No, I simply believe in the safety of everyone. The Pope’s security people shouldn’t have to worry about me trying to claim “my usual seat.”
Well if someone was going to get their earlier to take my usul seat. I would just have to make the effort of getting there extra early,
Why? Because you are more important than anyone else? Do you also give dirty looks to people that happen to get there before you do?

Where you usually sit is not your seat. It is just where you usually sit. If someone else gets there first, for that Mass, it is their seat.

Well maybe if the Popes security team wants a spot they should get their early.
I don’t think i am more important than anyone else. I am saying we are all equal. And if someone beats me to my usual seat then good on them for doing so. First in first served in my books. I just won’t give up my seat for anyone. Not a pregnant woman nor some “leader” with a over inflated ego. I would how ever, give it up for a elderly or disabled person.

The owner of the seats we squat on is alone able to decide who gets to sit in them, not you or I. If the Church wishes to have dignitaries up front in our favorite seats then the faithful need to acquiese, and understand that She does things for the furtherance of God’s kingdom.

Maybe a delicate velvet rope or a white flower with a lacy ribbon attached to the end of the pew ought to be enough to indicate the pews are reserved for people who have better things to do than to fight the self-important squatters for a seat.

How kind.

Well someone needs to inform the Church that she is not the judge on who is important and who is not. It is that attitude that lead to pedophile priest being protected for the “good” of the Chruch. If a priest, bishop or even the Pope himself asked me to vacate a seat so someone they deem of more importance can sit in my place. I would politely inform them that in God’s house no one is more important than anyone else. And that they should go away and learn some humility before preaching to me on any subject.
They can make a scene if they wish and have me forcibly removed, i suppose. But it wouldn’t look too good in front of the precious tv cameras those self anointed jesus christ wanna be’s now would it?
