Is it wrong to have sex when finished having kids?

I have noticed the real social horror of large families that some pps have mentioned. It seems to be that three is the level that most people accept, beyond that there is some idea that you must be irresponsible, or not able to understand how to limit your fertility.

Friends of mine have a family of six - they get some really rude comments, very personal ones too.
As one of eight siblings
and one of 36 first cousins,
I’m grateful that my parents followed the law of God.

But the question you need to be asking yourself is “why” are you done having kids? even when we have decided that we are done having children, God may have a different opinion.
Whoa, Catholics really do have a lot of many kids, don’t they? I thought it was just something in the movies.

Wake up people!! It’s time to grow up and be an adult! If you’re done having kids, you are allowed to be done!!! This isn’t 1950!!!. You don’t need to ask your priest (he’s not an expert, he never had children, given child birth, or been in a marriage etc.). I don’t believe for a second that women are supposed to keep birthing til they die. Pop out more kids than they can truly give time 2.

It’s healthy to enjoy an active sex life after kids, if you don’t, you risk being divorced. Also, don’t be confused between GOD’s Laws & CHURCH Law, 2 very different things.

I’m a non-believer so I guess you can take what I say with a grain of salt but the last couple years I’ve really wondered if I even want children and if I do I think I’m going to limit myself to one child.

I’m not trying to preach or anything but the more I think about it the more it seems like our world is really getting crowded and the population is growing at what seems like an exponential rate which to me in the long term really seems unsustainable. We’re pretty much at our limit as to how much food we can produce and how many resources we can consume. There’s only so much to go around and the more we breed the more we use up, and right now human breeding is out of control if you look at the overal population of the planet.

I’m of the feeling that it’s our responsibility to not just reproduce like rabits and consume everything in front of us if we want our children to actually have anything left when they grow up. I think it’s irresponsible to do otherwise. I think most people think “well my 5+ kids aren’t going to make a big impact” if they think about it at all but it adds up quick!

Either way as far as the original question goes I really don’t know why sex is “wrong” if you’re not trying to have children but maybe someone can enlighten me here since this seems to be the thread to do it in. Personally I think the world would be a happier place if people were getting laid more. It sure has improved my mental health.👍

That being said, if a spouse refuses to change even after counseling them about using NFP and how this violates Church teaching, they can then still engage the marital act without culpability
You sure about that? I know I wouldn’t feel right about that.
As a catholic who does not agree with, nor plans to follow, the church’s teaching on contraception in my lifetime
Why not? The study shows the effectivenss of NFP.

You’re welcome to use less resources if you want.
We’re pretty much at our limit as to how much food we can produce and how many resources we can consume.
Hardly. There’s tons of wilderness are that could be used for farming. There’s probably enough food for everyone if it was distributed right.

You could move the entire world’s population in to the U.S. and the density would be less than that of NYC.

If you crammed the entire world’s population in to The population density of NYC is, by my calculation, 27213 or so per square mile. If we were to confine 7 billion people to the U.S., more than the entire world population, to the U.S.A. alone, you’d have a density of less than 1979 per square mile. That’s right, the U.S.A. alone could hold more than the entire word population and be less than 1 tenth as crouded as NYC I think it’s irresponsible to do otherwise.

I agree we need to be worried about the environment, yet I don’t think not having kids is the answer. Think about it, 5 kids isn’t that mch more than 2 or 3 kids. YOU could make up for some of it by not using as much electricity or plumbing.

It’s not always, just sometimes. I think the main objections are denying it’s purpose and of course, if you start using your spouse more like an object.

Yes it is. I think a good example of this is puting God above yourself.

Morality doesn’t change like that. Was racism okay in the 50s?
You don’t need to ask your priest (he’s not an expert, he never had children, given child birth, or been in a marriage etc.).
Yes, but the priest is likely knowledgeable about theology. It’s like a mechanic may not know how to drive fast, yet a traffic cop will turn to him for car maintnence. I
don’t believe for a second that women are supposed to keep birthing til they die.
Noone said that.
Pop out more kids than they can truly give time 2.
Noone said that either. FYI, I know a family that has at least 5 kids, might have more. They are great parents and the kids are very-well behaved.

. No they’re not. Matthew 16:18
And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it

I can relate. You would be surprised what dirty looks my baby and I got! I was 20 when he was born but I was married and financially secure thank you! But people still looked at me like I didn’t know how to use birth control. It’s rediculous.

And … help yourself!! Don’t be lazy and expect everyone to do it for you. God does love those who help themselves!! Being irresponsible, having to many children is also a sin.

QUOTE= Morality doesn’t change like that. Was racism okay in the 50s?

We all have the right to choose how many children is enough for us - period!. “Octomom” and “The Dugars-18 and counting”, when you’re kids have to raise your kids because you don’t have time - you have failed.

QUOTE Yes, but the priest is likely knowledgeable about theology. It’s like a mechanic may not know how to drive fast, yet a traffic cop will turn to him for car maintnence.

All men, and a lot of women know how to drive fast, priest still don’t have first hand knowlege about spouses, child birth, child rearing (that sounds funny used with the word - priest. Maybe they do know something about that one.)

QUOTE-don’t believe for a second that women are supposed to keep birthing til they die.
Noone said that.

There are a lot of risks of birthing after 40. You’re chances of having a down child is something like 50% greater. The point still is, not all people are the same! Not all people want the same amount of children. We all have the right to stop & enjoy what we have. God loves you for being responsible.

Read back, it was implied. The women who posted is being questioned about why she is gonna stop at 3. She doesn’t have time, desire etc. for anymore - which is great she is gonna stop - enjoy your life!!! ALL kids should be well behaved!!! If not, you are not doing your job - which is a sin.

QUOTE-Also, don’t be confused between GOD’s Laws & CHURCH Law, 2 very different things No they’re not. Matthew 16:18

YES they are. I got married 10 yrs ago. I wanted to get married outside in nature, enjoying what God himself made for us.This is where I feel most spiritual, not in a box. The catholic church told me NO - this is a church law. This is not GODs law= where 2 or more gather in my name, I am in there midst. Years later, the church now allows marriages to take place outside.

God wants us to question authority! The church is a business first, meant to control you at every step. You need to question to grow, not follow blindly. GOD = LOVE

It is so nobody’s business how many children a family has. I have never understood how or why some people think it’s their place to make rude comments about the size of someone else’s family. Please note: These are usually the same people who say they don’t want the government in their bedrooms, then turn around and insist the government pass laws supporting abortion and distributing birth control in the public schools TO our children (and supported by our tax dollars) - then complain because “God” is mentioned in the Pledge of Allegiance because it cramps their style and they don’t like being imposed upon!

Pardon the rant, but these observations were made from personal experiences…
