I think it is beautiful to wish for the Holy, and Mary sure is that. She is gentel and kind. She leads us to her Son. Yes, this is a good thing to wish for.

:hmmm: :ehh: Well I guess Jesus wasn’t looking to hard…otherwise He would have come to me:takeoff:
Whenever I see these little “who is more humbler” exchanges a comedic scene enters my head. It starts as the Apostles are arguing over who is the greatest. Jesus interrupts thier little childish squabble and says that the least is the greatest and the greatest is the least. the apostles take this and learn but we as a society don’t learn. And that is the comedy, now we argue over who is the least because that really means greatest (tee he) we are really fooling God on this one. Meanwhile the lesson rolls right on by us. I am not picking on anyone here just making conversation. I mean, I do it too sometimes. Actually I do worse than that. Actually I do worse than all of you combined nobody sins more than me…😉

***1 Timothy 1:14-17 ***(American Standard Version)

14 and the grace of our Lord abounded exceedingly with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

15 Faithful is the saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief:

16 howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me as chief might Jesus Christ show forth all his longsuffering, for an ensample of them that should thereafter believe on him unto eternal life.

17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

(*Some translations render the word “chief” in verse 15, “worst”)

ps I want the bronze.

Ahhh Paul, the only man to be the most arrogant and humble all in one man. lol
No seriously, Paul didn’t know about me. He killed a few Christians, oooooh big deal.😃

 That makes me think of the statement"some are sicker than others" AA talk:wink:

To further participate in this exchange in regards to humility but isn’t one of the aspects of true humility the ability to assess and accept the the truth about one’s self**…“according to the Twelve and Twelve, humility is a clear recognition of who we are followed by a sincere attempt to become what we could be. That is, humility is seeing ourselves as we actually are, good and bad, strong and weak, and acting authentically on those truths. This is not a naieve attitude suggesting we have in some way already “arrived.” It is a sincere attempt to state the positive truth that when we face the truth of our shortcomings and the fact that we are powerless to change and begin to let God take our defects away, we have entered the pathway of humility. For the reality is, only God can take away our Sin, our deeply entrenched addictions, and our lifelong character defects. It is on this pathway, where we humbly ask God to remove all these defects of character, that the tools of recovery bring the healing, happiness, adn security we have dreamed of. But once more it is only powerlessness and pain that can force us to take the seventh Step into humility.”
  • A Hunger for Healing, p. 116-117 **

I don’t know but from what I am currently learning about humility I am really starting to embrace it…I don’t think that I am subhuman anymore…I now consider myself “a child of God” and that just makes me feel so wonderful inside.

Yeah, lainey, I agree with you. the only thing is one must have a healthy understanding of humility. If one just thinks it is about telling everyone how bad or insignificant you are then that is an infantile understanding of it. Especially if one works with youth or frankly, anyone, we must not be afraid to say. “I am a good person, I do not follow the ways of those who are of this earth and I am above many stumbling blocks because I walk with Christ.” Society needs this, from steroids to drugs to any pop culture being shoved in our faces we need people to say, there is something better to strive for. That is why we have saints as the heroes of our faith, that is why protestants tend not to focus on them, because we belive our works mean something and should be good and we should strive to be the best person we can be.
