The martial art is Krav Maga, it was founded by a Czech man as a way for the Jews to fight back against fascist gangs.
My friend who is a very devout Catholic thinks that I shouldn’t associate myself so closely with Jews. None of the people I train with are Jews, (to my knowledge) but he thinks it’s Jewish orogins make it innapropriate.
To give you some idea of what Krav Maga is it translates roughly as Close Combat. It is a self defense system unlike traditional martial arts with the white uniforms and belts etc. It focuses on attacking vulnerable points and defending simultaneously, it also incorporates defences against attacks with weapons. I thoroughly enjoy the training and it will be a useful tool for my future. Basically with a “him or me” mentality.
I would like to make it clear that the Jewish origins of Krav have nothing to do with the reasons I train in it. I train in Krav to further my ability to defend myself, my friends, my family and my property from attack. Also I will be joining the Police on my Graduation so it will obviously be a useful asset in my career.
What do you think? Am I wrong? Should I stop?
