Is Jerusalem an icon for anti-religion?

Military strength has kept the Jews in Israel alive.
The Israeli Defense Forces have managed to keep Jews alive, but that is not peace, and it has been maintained through the ongoing perpetration of injustice of staggering proportions.
A pretty notion that will accomplish nothing, but will make some feel good for awhile.
That is what we can expect from a purely human endeavor. However, with charity, prayer, and God’s help, all things are possible.

Let us pray for peace on earth, and particularly in the Holy Land.

Ok. Reedit. Jews trying to pray they actually cannot pray in certain parts of Temple Mount.
If you are reading something that basically tries to demonstrate “here is why that side is to blame for all this”, then the article has a bias.

Only one point of view is presented in that article.

What do you think of the religious council idea?

I think it’s a good idea. But in reality there will be third party, religious (probably Christian) or atheist (UN) who will offer mediation. I think this real council will only be real when the Sanhedrin and the Ayatollahs meet, at their own request, and nobody here on Earth mediates. We can always pray thar God will be done, but I really wish Christian leaders keep distance.
God knows we have our problems at home, in former Christian countries that are no secular but they have been Christian once, so infallible innocence no longee applies. We see it, they don’t. And it’s sad. We have no comforting news for them. I really wish the Pope and all bishops would stop calling the atheist as ignorant without discernment. Show them charity. At final Judgement we will be judges as nations, communities. Today’s atheist are mostly Christians in apostasy. Why nobody dares say this? Apostasy is the end. Jesus said that whoever is ashamed of Him He will not know them.
Jerusalem now being declared as Jewish is just a sign for us to see we don’t have 5 or 10 more years. We should be more honest and accept all ill names that atheists call us by and confess the Truth. That is how I feel. Both Jews and Arabs are Abrahamic by body, this is something we don’t get. We are Abrahamic by faith alone most of us. Why don’t we worry about ourselves?

What I am envisioning is a religious council, popularly supported by the three Abrahamic traditions. If people could give a voice to such a council, then it could be formed and act as a mediator.

Do you see how this could help demonstrate to atheists that religious people can make a positive difference in the world?

I’m pretty sure, no wait, I’m certain your Christianity didn’t exist then either. Especially 19/20th century, ‘great awakening’, Zionist Christianity.

That’s correct; stop peddling support for Zionism.
I agree with you Zionism if fascism with the name of religion.

The whole thing is political.

But Israel wouldn’t exist if not for being a warring state. It was attacked as soon as it was established.
It continues to be attacked.

There are many Muslim countries. There are many Christian countries. But a single Jewish state isn’t allowed to exist?
Don’t get me wrong, I wish all Jews were Christian. I also wish all Muslims were Christian. And that all pagans were Christian.
But what is wrong while that is not happening with a single Jewish state?

A Jewish State (especially in Jerusalem) was considered to be illegitimate according to Traditional Christianity, perhaps even more so than it ever was in Islam. Yet the majority of Western Christians have made a complete 180 on this issue.

Couldn’t be more wrong.

ARabs in Israel vote. There are Arabs in the Israeli parliament. There is an Arab Supreme Court Justice. There are high-ranking Arab officers in the Israeli army. There are high level Arabs in the Israeli government. There are Arab millionaires in Israel and in the West Bank too. Even “Miss Israel” was an Arab. Arabs can own land in Israel, and do. (Jews can’t own land in most Arab states).

And you consider that fascist? What in the world would you think is NOT fascist, then, a one-party state like Gaza?

Where are you getting this? From the KKK? From the atheist Stalin who called them “rootless cosmopolites”? I am a “Traditional Christian” and never, in all my life, have I heard a Traditional Christian say such a thing.

Well, you see, the difference is that Protestants now insert all sorts of meanings into all sorts of things.

I am willing to change my mind, if you’d show that to be true.

Even though we grow nearer and nearer to that 2nd coming.

Of course my preference is that everyone accept Christ and so all lands are Christian.

This is over a year old. What, specifically, do you have an issue with?

Watch this video. It is by a Brit who is a professional soldier. It is compelling. I have visited with IDF when I was a Navy officer. It rings true to me.

Also this one by a Palestinian:

He’s talking about Gaza 2014. The World’s Most Moral Army.

Hey, wasn’t that when Israel rained down white phosphorus (incendiary weapon) upon civilians?

Yes, I believe that is a war crime. So much for the title of Most Moral.

Well, sure. There are always exceptions to the rule. But there are deep-seated hatreds going on over there that won’t end with just a hand shake.
