hi Everyone,
I need some enlightenment and please forgive my ignorance… This has been bothering me lately… It seems to me that in today’s society, people aspire to do drugs, fornicate, abuse their bodies by getting drunk and partying hard, and get a good job to earn tons of money to buy clothes, cars, boats, and houses… Is this the meaning of living a good life? I feel like that people who don’t do these, do not fit in or would not be able to relate to people or would not be successful in their lives. The media and society somehow have instilled that a key to a good life is live like a rockstar… Then the mindset of ‘missing out’ is the worst feeling… But on the otherhand, I feel like there’s gotta be more to that!
The thing is, when this ‘rockstar’ people get old and decrepit, They would religiously go to church maybe it’s because they are ‘retired’ and would like to go to heaven… While some non-believers believe they would still go to heaven if such thing exists, so why not just live life to the fullest because there’s nothing to lose… Also, I’ve heard so many old people said to enjoy life while still young. If that’s the case, then we should just all abuse our bodies while we’re young and strong so we don’t miss out on life… Then become a devoted Christian in our later years when we can’t do those anymore…
Ok, I myself drink ocassionally…I don’t smoke, don’t do drugs, and don’t sleep around… I feel like I’m missing out if I don’t do these ‘social’ things. It seems like people who do those are more successful, happier, more contented, and have conquered their fears.
Thanks in advance for your (name removed by moderator)ut!
