To me, “asked to resign because my boss feared a lawsuit” is a red flag. Resigning for unexplained personal reasons is only a yellow caution flag.Would you see it better to explain that I was asked to resign because my boss feared a lawsuit
Your description of the incident:even though I felt I was justfied by my actions - which shows honesty - or simply
“got into a physical altercation with a trespasser who goated me into an argument (my fault for losing my temper a bit). He approached me in a threatening manner by getting into my face and cussing at me. I felt threatened to a degree and took action to protect myself. I pulled him to the ground and put him into a control hold until he calmed down”
You admitted to losing your temper, arguing, and pulling someone to the ground because they cussed at you. That almost resulted in a lawsuit. I would commend you on your honesty and hire someone else.
Why? Because (a) I want people with a proven track record of successfully doing their job and (b) if a similar incident ever arose and you were involved my hiring decision could be questioned and result in my head being put on the chopping block. Feeding my family’s priority numero uno. Granted, I work at a large corporation, and small companies may function differently.
