I did not take Jesus to be the kind of man to look down on women. I just wonder why being married to one would be considered “not a possibility” unless one takes marriage to a woman to be a bad thing. And just so you know, your conclusion is wrong. I can possibly see how you might arrive to this conclusion being that I have yet to define exactly what it is I believe. (please, do not ask for it is irrelevant to this topic).
Hi

I think marriage to a woman is the most pleasant thing in every civilised society and culture of the world and is celebrated as such. It is pro life and pro humanity, in my opinion.

My Catholic friends don’t need to believe it, if they think, marriage to a woman is injurious to their faith, in my opinion.

I love Jesus

Thanks

I’ve always been in favor of mixed marriages. One man and one woman in each marriage.😛

You seem to have misinterpreted (once again) our beliefs

We believe Jesus was sent here for a completely different reason than what Islam believes

We believe He was sent here to die for us

His bride was His Church

This does not mean Catholics think marriage to a woman is a bad thing or can ruin our beliefs

Marriage is wonderful, but not something everyone must do in order to be human

And it was something Jesus definitely wasn’t, well not to a human woman anyway

We believe He was sent here to die for us

AND to rise from the dead–don’t forget that.

I think that Paar has no interest at all in our position. He has been here far to long not to understand it. All he seems to care about his spouting heresy.

For the record, here is the Catholic position on marriage, one more time. This way, paar can ignore it again.

The Catholic faith holds marriage is such high regard because it is seen as one of the seven sacraments. These sacraments are seven outward signs on inward change of grace that were instituted by Christ and entrusted to his Church. The Catholic faith holds that marriage, in its sacramental form, is the perfection of human unity and cannot be dissolved on earth. It is a reflection of the Trinity. One man and one woman are no longer two but become one.

Now, not all people are called to marriage. Some CHOOSE not to be married to dedicate themselves to the work of God. These people are not showing a hatred of marriage, but a profound love for it. They understand that they cannot be the perfect spouse AND a perfect servant of God, so they choose one over the other.

Hi

But Jesus is and must be the role model of Catholics in marriage also; not Paul, who had no confidence in his own self, perhaps, in my opinion.

It is for the benefit of the Catholics to prove that Jesus did marry and had beautiful children whom he reared perfectly. That would make him a perfect role model.

I said that it is for the benefit of the Catholics to prove that Jesus did marry and had children.

Kindly have some clues in this connection and please think on these lines:
  1. In a rural society in the East, I personally had lived there for quite some times, early marriage was considered morally good. Almost every body gets married at a very early age; one’s parents would always be insisting on this point. Jesus must have been an obedient son of his parents; I mean Mary and legal father Joseph, if they ever cared for him, they would have asked Jesus to do so. Jesus could not have refused them. Quran mentions very clearly that Jesus was at least very obedient of his mother Mary; kindly refer Quran Chapter Maryam, its text and context intently in a thread here.
  2. Mary and Joseph as advised in a dream/angel took Jesus to Egypt in perhaps the very infancy. They lived there and came back to Jerusalem when he was about 27 years or 30 years of age perhaps or earlier but of a mature age. I think, Jesus’ parents would have insisted on Jesus for a marriage, and he would have happily agreed to it, as was very normal in those days. Jesus was tall and smart and must have been very beautiful, even you would agree to it. Any girl would have happily agreed to marry with him. So, this occurs to me that might be Jesus had married a beautiful Egyptian girl to start with in Egypt. It was not essential to bring his wife, if I am correct in my reasonable guess, along with him with children to Jerusalem, when Jesus and Mary came back riding on a donkey or a mule or a horse or a camel. There is a clue to it in Quran; which kindly refer to in Surah/Chapter Maryam, in one of the threads here.
  3. He might have been an unknown person in Jerusalem to start with. I don’t know if, as our brother planten has mentioned in one of his post; that Jesus married and divorced a wife in Jerusalem before marrying as our brother Ben Masada insists with Mary Magdalene at Cana, though the possibility might be there, sorry, I cannot deny.
  4. There is a possibility of Jesus marrying in Afghans in the tribe called Issa Khel.
  5. There is a great possibility of Jesus marrying in Kashmiris; there are people over there in Kashmir who insist that they are from physical lineage of Jesus/Issa, this has been noted by, I think, BBC in a documentary, if I remember it correctly.
These are some clues for the Catholics to prove that Jesus did marry divorce and had children to be a perfect role mode for the human beings. I am afraid if my Catholic friends cannot opt to prove this, then they don’t help Jesus claim to be one of the perfect men, as our Catholics friends wish him to be so much; and god he never was, in my opinion.

Kindly let Jesus be a perfect man at least, in my opinion.

I love Jesus and Mary as mentioned in Quran.

Thanks

I could care less what the Qur’an says about Jesus’s marrital status. Jesus DID NOT MARRY BECAUSE IT WAS NOT NEEDED FOR HIM TO DO SO TO FULFILL HIS WORK ON EARTH

WRONG. WRONG. WRONG. The Holy family came back from Egypt after Herod died, a few years after he went.

The rest of the stuff you put up here needs to go on my flower beds.

If a man is only perfect after he marries and has sex, then Jesus was not perfect. If a man is perfect because he PERFECTLY DOES THE WILL OF GOD, then JESUS IS MORE PERFECT then we can say.

Jesus is not Muhammed. Jesus did not need to have sex with lots of women to prove himself a man.

Besides, by your logic, a porn star is more perfect than Muhammed. Or most rock stars. Or actors…

As Jesus said "I and Father are one." Do you mean One like that?
Now, not all people are called to marriage. Some CHOOSE not to be married to dedicate themselves to the work of God. These people are not showing a hatred of marriage, but a profound love for it. They understand that they cannot be the perfect spouse AND a perfect servant of God, so they choose one over the other.
ralph, we understand that. We have a verses in the Quran which states exactly like that. It says " The life of celibacy that the christian (monks) adopted was of their own accord. We had not ordained it for them."

So it is clear that not marrying was the work or idea of christian people themsleves. It was not any order from God to do so.

Now please keep in mind there was no order to keep away from marriage. In other words marriage was the normal thing. non-marriage was abnormal.

Can we please God by our own invented formulae? If God does not want us to do something. But we do it to please him? Is that good thing? I hope not, in my opinion. That will be pleasing God with some kind of force. That is not fair.

Now coming back to topic: Re: Is marriage to a woman a bad thing?
I say it is not a bad thing. It is in fact the most lovely thing. It is a proof and consummation of Love. It is a necessity also.

Paarsuey,

Christians don’t think marriage is injurious. In fact it is a sacrament. It is a holy act that is ordained by God. That being said Jesus was not married, nor did he need to be married, as he was the Incarnation. Jesus was complete within Himself as a member of the Godhead. Also, Jesus was on earth for a very specific purpose. He was here to spread the Gospel and to show that the Grace of God was a gift freely given by God through His crucifixion. There really was no time or need for him to be married.

The fact that he chose a celibate life is why that some Christians chose to stay celibate, and devote their life to God and their fellow man. In this way they are married to their service, Just as Jesus is married to His people. That is the Christian view.

Be assured though that Christians are very much appreciative of marriage.

As Jesus said "I and Father are one." Do you mean One like that?
Not exactly, but you are getting there.
ralph, we understand that. We have a verses in the Quran which states exactly like that. It says " The life of celibacy that the christian (monks) adopted was of their own accord. We had not ordained it for them."
So now Allah is calling Jesus a lier? WONDERFUL!! Jesus said that those who made themselves unichs for the kingdom of God were blessed.
So it is clear that not marrying was the work or idea of christian people themsleves. It was not any order from God to do so.

There is your problem, neither state, in and of itself, is abnormal.

What some people on here are doing is showing a lack of understanding of the Catholic position. Marriage is a wonderful, beautiful thing in the Church. However, serving God by giving up that option is too.

I’m telling you, he doesn’t ignore it. He uses ONLY threads from CAF as fodder for his blog.

And for the record, paar, Jesus Christ is God, and as God had no need of human carnal knowledge.

Not talking about forced/arranged marriages or paedophilia ,
I don’t who marry with/to who ,
as long you are fair/honest eachother !!

Some people don’t wanna get married ,
whatever the reason may be , like:
  • why should I ??
  • the couple doesn’t want to !!
But sticking straight to subject:
Is marriage to a woman a bad thing ??

No 👍

Unless she’s a killer-one 😛 :o 😉 😃
Just joking of course 🙂

Salute & Cheers from a NON BELIEVER:

We would all do well to start ignoring paarsurrey, because all he is doing is trolling us for his blog. Go to his link. There’s not an original thought there. EVERY SINGLE POST CONNECTS BACK TO CAF.

I find it difficult to believe that after 4400 posts and nearly 2 years on these forums, you can claim ignorance about Catholic marriage.

Hi

I think when I was posting on the Judaism forum, I posted some of my posts from there on my blog; when I was posting on a Atheists’ forum I posted some of my posts from there on my blog, and when I was posting on a Hindu forum I posted some of my posts on my blog. I could not find time to do more on my blog, I admit. If you want to see my posts which depict my winning them over or they winning me over, many useful posts out there, which would increase your faith as a Theist, undoubtedly.

If you want to see them all, you may google “paarsurrey” and you would get the clue from their search engine, become a member of these forums and you would be able to read my posts there. I recommend to read my posts on the Atheists forum, which is our joint standpoint with the Catholics.

I am a friend of the Catholics, Protestants, Jews, Hindus and the Atheists/Agnostics as we all are human beings and need to be uplifted morally, spiritually and of course physically to start with.

You may access my posts there if you like, in my opinion; with least or no compulsion.

I love Jesus , Mary as I love Socrates, Buddha and Krishna

Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes. Proverbs 6:25

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Proverbs 31:30

For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. James 1:11

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. 1 Peter 3:3

Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. 1 Peter 3:4

A Woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this. Deuteronomy 22:5

Do not spend your strength on women, your vigor on those who ruin kings. Proverbs 31:3

I will sentence you to the punishment of women who commit adultery and who shed blood; I will bring upon you the blood vengeance of my wrath and jealous anger. Ezekiel 16:38

They must not marry widows or divorced women; they may marry only virgins of Israelite descent or widows of priests. Ezekiel 44:22

Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. 1 Corinthians 14:34

I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes. 1 Timothy 2:9

In the same way, their wives are to be women worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything. 1 Timothy 3:11

Older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity. 1 Timothy 5:2

A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. 1 Timothy 2:11-12

"Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12

Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Titus 2:3

Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children. Titus 2:4

For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful. They were submissive to their own husbands. 1 Peter 3:5

But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. 1 Corinthians 11:3

If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head. 1 Corinthians 11:6
