Is Mary the Queen of Heaven?

I say, “Yes,” and here’s why:

The Establishment of Jesus’ Kingdom and Royal Court

Let’s begin by establishing a scriptural basis for accepting Jesus as King.

Luke 1:31–33
And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his kingdom there will be no end.

Jesus inherits David’s throne, and Mary becomes Queen Mother. Support for the principle of the Queen Mother in the House of David is found clearly in the following passages:

1 Kings 2:19
When Bathsheba went to King Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah, the king stood up to meet her, bowed down to her and sat down on his throne. He had a throne brought for the king’s mother, and she sat down at his right hand.

Since Solomon had MANY wives, none of them would be queen. In fact, it was his mother that sat on the throne. This idea is also evident in the book of Jeremiah:

Jeremiah 13:18
18 Say to the king and to the queen mother, “Come down from your thrones, for your glorious crowns will fall from your heads.”

From these two passages, we can see that the mother of the king held the title of Queen in the Davidic kingdom. We also know that Mary is the Queen of Heaven from the following:

Revelation 12:1-2
1A great and wondrous sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. 2She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth.

Since the writer goes on to say that the woman gave birth to a son who would rule the nations, we can conclude that the woman wearing the crown in heaven is the Mother of Jesus, Mary.

Ofcourse she is. She is the Mother of the King of Kings, which means she is the Queen of Heaven.
 
The blessed Virgin is the Queen of Heaven who prays for the Church per Lutheran confessions.

Yes! A Kingdom has it’s King and Queen, and Heaven is no different.

1st, remember that in Revelation 11:19, the Apostle John is describing how he sees in the sky the ark of the covenant, which had not been seen in some 600 yrs. The church teaches that Mary is the Ark of the New Covenant. (See 2 Samuel 6:1-18 parrallel to Luke 1:39-57)

2nd, as he is describing the Ark, a woman appears. Remember this is important bc on Genesis 3:15, God says that there will be enmity between the Woman and her seed. In John’s Gospel, he starts off by saying the same way that Genesis, started, In the first Day. Then he says later on, the next day, the next day, the next day. Then when it gets to the wedding of Cana, in John 2:1. we see how Jesus calls Mary, Woman. With this he is letting us know, remember that woman talked about in Genesis 3:15, well this is her.

3rd, you mentioned it, the importance of the mother, how she played an important role in the kingdom. When Jesus is in front of Pontius Pilates, he tells him, my kingdom is not of this earth. We know that his kingdom is in heaven. With that, his mother, our mother the most blessed Virgin Mary is the queen mother of heaven.

So when we plug this in together we see that yes Mary is the 1 who is being described in Apocalypse 12

Why the Catholic Church doesn’t use the title “Queen of Heaven” instead of “Mother of GOD”? I think it would be more appealing for other Christian sects.

Both Queen of Heaven and Mother of God are used.

Well 1st of all, she is the Queen of heaven, theirs no doubt about that. Biblically, by Church Tradition, and the Writtings of the Early Church Fathers they all say the same thing that she is the Queen Of Heaven.

2nd, Mary is the mother of God. Rememeber Jesus is the 2nd person of the Trinity. Jesus is God, he was born from a Woman (I believe that’s in Galatians 4:4) so since Mary gave birth to Jesus who is God she is the mother of God.

Don’t let people tell you that Jesus didn’t get his divine power until he was up in the Cross. That is absurd, disrespectful and is heresy. When our mother gives birth to us, she is our mother til the end, whether we become a teacher, the president of a company or president of a country. She will always be your mother.

Go to Luke 1, read when the archangel Gabriel tells Mary, that she will give birth to the Kings of all Kings. Jesus was God already, so he had supremacy in the womb

What about “Mother of LORD JESUS”, that would be more acceptable, specially for non Christians to understand.
 
Semantic compromise is a very bad route to go down and it’s not going to happen. The unspoken implication of doing such would be “We are embarrassed by the titles given to our patron queen, and we’re going to wiggle closer to a more easily digestible title to make you feel better.” It would also suggest that protestant Christians are right concerning their views on Mary, when they are not.

“Mother of God” and “Queen of Heaven” are perfectly fine just as they are. If nobody else used the title, I still would. Every mom is a queen in their son’s eyes <3
 
Of course Mary is the Queen of Heaven. Another title is Queen Mother. :gopray::angel1::heaven::harp:

Here’s a sad thing. Not every mom is viewed in this way. Some mom’s left their children and the children can’t understand… therefore they can’t believe in some remote “Mom” wanting to love them. Pray, pray, pray for these children who grow up to be hurting adults…
…Same can be said for the fathers who also left… which makes it difficult for these people to accept someone like God the Father.
Maybe it’s an underhanded deal with the devil that makes mother and father dirty words in our new age culture…
 
There is a problem with this kind of thread, and that is that everyone takes these titles too seriously, literally, and formally. Listening to many Catholics, you would think Mary was appointed to an official position in heaven called ‘queen of heaven’. She has official duties to perform.

it is done every time imagery is used by the fathers. Mary is officially the new Eve. Your looking for a dogma in everything.

Because it actually means something slightly different. Some people don’t believe that Jesus is God. Calling Mary, specifically, the mother of God not only defines her as the mother of Jesus, but also defines Jesus as God. This was, historically, the whole purpose in giving her this title in the first place, as many non-trinitarians who believed Jesus was just a man had been cropping up.

Mary, Mother of our Lord is August 15 on the [ELCA] Lutheran calendar, so the terminology is common. If Jesus is God, as all Christians profess, than His blessed Mother would be the Mother of God. I think most Christians would accept that designation of St Mary. The title, “Queen of Heaven” suggests that the holy Virgin was assumed into heaven which is considered speculation by many Christians.

Personally, I believe St Mary is the Mother of the Church, second only to our Lord Christ. Any honor we give to the blessed Virgin Mary reflects directly onto Christ, her Son and our Savior.

Well, that’s simply a bit of straightforward logic…for Christians, anyway.
  1. Mary is the mother of Jesus.
  2. Jesus is God.
    Therefore, Mary is the Mother of God.
This does NOT suggest that Mary is God or that she pre-existed, etc.

It is, however, an important truth that protects the full understanding of the incarnation.

Jesus is fully God and fully man. He is one person with two natures - one divine and one human. Mary did not give birth to a nature; Mary gave birth to a person.

Therefore, modern day Protestants who deny that Mary is the Mother of God are falling into the same heresy that the Church rejected by the above reasoning in the fifth century.
