So Valke2 your Race: White; your ethnicity: Jewish/Hispanic; your Religion: Judaism

I know that being Jew is not only a religion but it’s a “culture” it’s an ethnicity. Like wise I think being Christian it’s not just a religion, but it can be an “culture” it can be an ethnicity. It can give people an “identity”.

There are SOME people that when they say they are Christian means nothing more then I feel I have an affiliation with this group: for SOME it means nothing more then I put up a Christmas Tree in December and hunt for Easter eggs in the spring, because that’s what Christians do. It’s sad I know, but it does happen.

So for me my Race: White, my ethnicity: Non-Hispanic/Christian; my Religion: Catholicism

Now as for Michael Richards, I don’t know if he’s Christian or if he’s Jewish. Either way it would be just “IN NAME”, because it is my understand that either religion (or culture) would not and does not tolerate out burst like that one. Sad, Sad, Sad

You know I’m really starting to doubt that Michael Richards exists at all. I think he’s just be CGI’d into his shows.

Before or after the year 2000? 😃

But I think you bring up a good point. The bottom line is that “race” for any given culture is little more than what people try to define it as. Hispanic has only recently become a “race” in American parlance, but when you consider the original definition of race as a broad grouping of world peoples by physical characteristics there is no way “hispanic” would be its own race. It’s actually an ethnicity.
That might be. But then, even more so when discussing judaism. Or “Jewish”

Fox is hardly an authority. “Fox News” is an oxymoron.

Let’s put this to rest. Michael Richards parents are Catholic and he was raised as a Catholic. He attended parochial school in the San Fernando Valley… Crespi Carmelite, I believe. His stupid PR man can say anything but these are the facts.

That being said, it doesn’t matter what religion Richards is…he went way over the top and he probably has no future in show business. From reports, his blowup wasn’t an isolated incident, either.

Yeah. But by Jewish, maybe they mean “Hebrew”? Not sure whether that is an ethnicity either, though. I’ve heard it referred to that way before.

Could you please give us a link to support your statements? Thank you.

You know I just saw an article on him yesterday that explains the confusion. He has been claiming that he’s Jewish for awhile because he admires the religion and assumably agrees with its over all belief structure. However, his parents were not Jewish, he was not raised Jewish and he has not converted.

Apparently he is a man with some confusion. Anyway, finding that out explains the confusing and conflicting accounts of his religion that have been all over.

The Wikipedia article has changed to: “Richards was brought up with no specific religious tradition.”

I’m happy.

Hows totally unreliable. You and I can add meaningless b------- to their entries.Wikipedia is not interested in accuracy, only in being unconventional.

Anyway, from today’s Post:

December 1, 2006 – MICHAEL Richards was mistaken when he told his recently hired publicist, Howard Rubenstein, he was Jewish. Rubenstein, an expert in crisis management, said last week that Richards was Jewish after The Post reported the former “Seinfeld” star had spewed anti-Semitic insults at hecklers earlier this year, long before he screamed racial epithets at black audience members at an L.A. comedy club. But it turns out neither of Richards’ parents is Jewish, and he never converted. But Richards wasn’t lying, Rubenstein said: "He thinks he’s Jewish. There were two mentors in his life who raised him and had a big influence on his life, and they were Jewish. He said, ‘I agree with the religious beliefs of Judaism, and I’ve adopted Judaism as my religion.’ " Rabbi Marvin Hier, who founded the Simon Wiesenthal Center in L.A., told the AP, “You can’t feel Jewish. It’s not a matter of feeling.” Rubenstein couldn’t say what faith Richards was raised in or what his real name was. But he said the actor is remorseful over both incidents: “He’s spending a lot of time with his psychiatrist.”

Sounds like he’s got a “virtual religion.”

Personally, I’ve found wikipedia to be pretty accurate. It also has a habit of flagging probably contributions and footnotes its sources. All in all, it ain’t bad.

I wonder if they’ll try to claim that he’s really a Black man, in order to do damage control on his latest episode?😃

From the AP:

Wikipedia has been hailed as a revolutionary tool, but it has also raised concerns about errors and accuracy. Wales (the founder) says there will be some new software features to limit errors, but stresses that where others would respond to errors by locking down, his response is to be even more open.
