I have similar complaints directed to those who complain about RPGs having a long story and care only about grinding and farming fancy items. I mean for goodness sakes, it’s an RPG of course there has to be a story at some point! DX

Make post like what? Since you’re such a expert on the English language, i would have thought you could make yourself a little clearer. All i did was call rpg game’s idiotic. Yet i was attacked by two most likely wow fanbois. Who btw, have just validated my opinion on both rpg’s and rpg gamers. And don’t worry about my intelligence. It has been clinically tested at 145 a while back. Now i know a lot of people say “iq’s are meaningless, they mean nothing. Blah blah blah” But since i have a excellent iq. I feel they are idiotic, because of the way they become so engrossed in a game they ignore everything that is going on around them. No other gamers (in such numbers) will give up everything for their game. You don’t see fps gamers wife/husbands and families waking out on them, because they can’t tear themselves away from their game. You don’t see fps gamers spending huge amounts of money so their avatar can get a new hair cut. Or paying people to play for them while they are forced off line… You don’t see fps gamers trying to build a alternate life online in some fantasy world, because they lack the intelligence or social skills to make a life worth living offline. Never heard of a fps gamer, kill anyone for messing with his/her account, You don’t see fps players drop dead because they can’t tear themselves away from their game. Or committing suicide because they got owned in a game.You don’t see fps gamers, coming online raging at people who dare insult their beloved genre.

I will make a educated guess about both you and wanderererer. (sp) The high level of hostility towards someone who made a most innocent and reasonable comment. Suggest that you both suffer from some form of addiction with these types of game. I think there might be a flaw in your logic. You could replace playing games with any kind of obsession in your example above and it would be true. Some people get just as engrossed and involved in watching football, participating on Facebook, watching TV, or even work (workaholic). I don’t think it’s playing games that’s the problem so much as when people take any activity and become gluttonous about it.

So for example, it’s entirely possible that someone who is obsessed with watching TV to neglect everyone around them, spend insane amounts of money on television, get defensive about shows or their viewing habits, etc. They might have husbands or wives who walk out on them since they can’t tear themselves away from the TV. They might live in a fantasy world and not have good social skills because of their obsession.

It’s not the type of game (or even the fact that it is a game) that’s the problem, it’s when it turns to gluttony. But to say that everyone who enjoys a certain activity is idiotic because some people have a problem can be perceived as judgmental.

I defend RPGs not because I’m addicted but because I have a sheer dislike for stupidity (especially of the internet variety). You base your bias on your observation of loser gamers yet I’ve managed to balance my games and my life quite well. Hence, logically, there is no connection between gaming and a bad school life.

For two years, I’ve had swarms of kids to college dudes alike swarm in and occupy every unit just so they could play their stupid Counterstrike or (some online version of it). For two years, I’ve had to put up with the same stupid gamers play different games.
