I wont comment individually on each of the claims you are trying to make. Some are just ridiculous some are irrelevant. Most are just straight babblings.
I’m not even going to waste rereading the tripe you’ve just tainted these forums with because it had already ignored plenty of glaringly obvious facts.
  1. I wasn’t the first to respond to you in the first place. It was when you started acting like a troll. It wasn’t over a simple comment. My issue with you is your obnoxious attitude and the fact that you pretend be a shrink. You know you could get arrested for that?
  2. I hardy play WoW. I’m too poor. I’ve only tested the game via a friend. Hence, you can hardly call me obsessed.
  3. I’m hardly anywhere close to the morons I had to put up with when I ran my net cafe.
Finally, I would just like to say that it’s time you got a taste of your own medicine.

Given the way you respond, your narrow mind, and the fact that you think you’re doing people a favor, I see a very insecure individual who is so desperate to prove his prejudices that he resorts to being a poor excuse of a debater. I can only say you’re a bitter FPS fanbrat.

If the game is based on being violent, like Grand theft Auto, they hardly bring you closer to God. I bought GTA4 the other day with a gift card. I spent a week trying to get it to run half decently on my computer to find out I didn’t like the game… :o

I’d stop but I’m not the one who keeps replying idiotically. I ignored his first post but I can’t stand people who start sounding like trolls.

I’m not massively fond of GTA period. Then again, you can chalk it up to the way plenty of stupid kids here just start that game only to enter cheat codes and go on a pointless rampage.

Is there really a depth to its story? I mean, I’ve seen a few cutscenes but at best they look like they’re straight out of a crime-action drama.

Sorry if I offend anyone. I’m more of a Final Fantasy or a Tales of type of gamer. :o

I’ve tried a similar game though it was the fantasy RPG Elder Scrolls. I actually like games like that but I had great difficulty trying to work out the magic system (that and the fact that a spell that a game guide labeled as crucially powerful could only be learned via a bit of theft that I felt hesitant to commit).

I might try it again (once I get a better computer). I might try Dragon Age too but I really hope the magic/skill system there won’t be too confusing.

Oh darn, I always picked a Breton, given their description as a magically adept race. I guess I’m just too used to Mages being cast as a major damage-dealing role (firing elemental spells more constantly than a whole artillery unit). Then again, we have a downside in that we break easily but that’s what calling a meat shield via summoning is for (at least, that’s how it works in a few RPGs I’ve tried).

I read abut two lines before i realised. That you have been playing rpg games for so long, you now have trouble separating fact from fiction in other areas of your life. Now you’re accusing me of being some mythical creature from your fantasy game. No, i am not a troll. They do not exists. You really need to help. I guess this is your last an final attempt at keeping this alternate life you have built up on a game,as some sort of legitimate life.It is just a pipe dream. Let it go… The violence in your post is suggesting that this is getting way out of hand for you. There is no need for insults. I don;t insult you. But, if you want to insult me it is ok. If it helps you get through this difficult time. I understand that taking offence to insults from someone in your situation, is as useless as taking offence when someone with turrets swears at you.

I was laid up ill for a while. And i started to play new vegas (fallout) on my xbox. It was a good game, i enjoyed it… Incredibly long. But the constant saving of the game was a huge turn off. So i switched to red dead redemption. (undead nightmare) I really enjoyed that game. I enjoyed both the off line and online games it offed. I gave up on GTA. The first gta game i owned was san andreas . i thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. I brought a few of the titles released after that. But they were not as good as gta sa. When a new game comes out in a series, you’re suppose to be able to do more. But with the gta franchise, it was the other way around. So i gave up on the series . Then i was gifted the ballard of gay tony. And i must say i was quiet impressed

I didn’t read the pages and pages of posts, just the question and the first couple of replies;;; But I will say this.

There is absolutely nothing sinful about video games. Everything you do is in a virtual world, NOT real life. I saw someone that said it’s wrong if you kill civilians for fun in a game like GTA, but it’s okay if you’re killing (for pleasure) Nazis or- Get this- ALIENS?? No, Nazis were human, just like the rest of us, they were just lead persuaded by a bad man who was very influential and good with words. And I don’t see how killing something we know nothing about (aliens) makes it any better??

I digress, the point is NO, they are not sinful because NOBODY gets hurt.
People you play against online may get mad and curse you out, but that’s all.

Oh one more thing;; to those of you who think games are mindless, consider this-- I learned to read by playing hours of games where what people said was text, because they didn’t have voice-overs, so to get anywhere, you NEEDED to be able to read. Needless to say it was a reason to learn mighty quick, and it helped me learn to read books with complex words by the time I was 6, whereas all my schoolmates were still on Dr. Seuss I was Ayn Rand books. I didn’t always get them, but games taught me to use context clues, sound words out, and even how to analyze plot, things that SCHOOL didn’t teach me for quite some time. Then again, when I was 5 I was playing games the ESRB rated M (mature). Mind you, I’m a well behaved, respectful, well-mannered person, and I thank video games for making me more intelligent.

I said, “No offense.”
And what I say is not opinion, it’s fact. Look it up. Satan has no definite form regardless of what medieval art or Chick tracts try to sell you. The formula will always stand.

Fantasy Magic =/= Real Magic
Now, I don’t want to get into a huge arguement here. I think internet arguements are headaches, lol.

I wasn’t saying what you said was an opinion, I was talking about your opinion (which I can percieve) about how you liking video games, and you obviously seem to want to defend games like wow.

Also, I have just found out that real magic and fictional representations of magic are both harmful. I kind of felt sad about this that I can’t play certain video games now, but I’ll do it for God, no biggy. I found this out in Women of Grace on EWTN (I’m not a female but that show has info that’s not reserved only for women). They said that the way magic is portrayed in Harry Potter is bad because it’s the wrong way to portray magic. They say Magic shouldn’t be portrayed as good or nuetral because humans can NEVER have magic, even in fiction. So, although I thought only the warlock thing was a reference to the occult in wow, it stinks how all the magic stuff is a reference to the occult (shamman magic, paladin, death knight magic, etc.). What really hit me in the show was that I heard the head of all exorcists in the Catholic Church insulted Harry Potter for the magic and stuff. I have big respects to exorcists. I think they’re cool, lol. So, no offense, since you like wow, or at least it seems like you do, playing wow is a sin cuz of the all the good guys using magic.

I’d just like to express how this news hit me hard (you probably don’t got to read this cuz this is just a weird lamantation, lol, p.s. i’m weird, and I wouldn’t have been made If God didn’t have a sense of humor). I was trying to write a book for God. It’s supposed to be Christian Realistic Fantasy. Sadly, the good guys were using magic and the evil satanists were using black magic. Since I found out that portrayal of magic as good or neutral was bad, (which was what I was doing), I got disappointed at how the story would change. But, I had to accept the fact that that was that. So, I made the good Christian guys use sci-fi technology against the evil satanist radical magic users. That was may lamentation about this revelation from God that magic cannot be portrayed to be good or neutral.

Which is… still saying that what I said was an opinion. And I repeat, it is NOT. I’m telling you again, do your homework.

Fantasy Magic =/= Real Magic(k?)

Appealing to authority is a logical fallacy.

You: “Magic is suppose to be evil, even in fiction.”

Me: “Why?”

You: “A lady on the TV said so.”

Me: -_-;;

Yes well I have a book written by my country’s most famous Catholic exorcist, Fr. Syquia. There’s barely any mention of stuff such as Harry Potter or even things such as Naruto, Ragnarok Online, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, or even DOTA (all of which are more popular fantasy trends here than Harry Potter).

Are you aware that Fr. Amorth also believed that Satan has infiltrated the Vatican? That should tell you enough about how quick you are to believe even the most veteran of exorcists.

Well I’d like to express that your lamentation is wasted on something that’s even true. It’s all fiction we’re talking here for heaven’s sake.

I don’t know if I said this to you before but I’m a writer as well, hence why I don’t just defend WoW (which I have to say, for the umpteenth, bloody time, BARELY ever played) but also things like Harry Potter, DnD, Final Fantasy, and all other things that scream swords and sorcery. You can say fantasy is my “calling” as an author.

And guess what? Tolkien and Lewis are both popular fantasy writers and yet they are also hailed in the Christian community. How does your “lamentation” reconcile with them and their works?

P.S.

I can’t say how much of a position I am to tell you this but your story’s premises need work. I can’t say I’m fond of the idea of somehow of arming your fictional version of Catholicism with sci-fi given how atheists are often more likely to brand themselves as the scientific ones. I even less fonder still of your reasons for changing it into that.

Well I’d like to express that your lamentation is wasted on something that’s even true. It’s all fiction we’re talking here for heaven’s sake.
Darn typo:

Well I’d like to express that your lamentation is wasted on something that’s not even true. It’s all fiction we’re talking here for heaven’s sake.

I seem to a recall a mind numbing conversation about this from a month or so ago when despite numerous, logically valid points being made that humans on the “good side” did use magic in the works of Tolkien and Lewis for good purposes and that’s considered good there were a few stubborn people who hadn’t even read the HP books but insisted that somehow the magic or manner in which the magic used was somehow “different” and full of “obviously insidious dangers”.

While I don’t want to rehash that entire argument again… I’m curious Scourgeblade777, since nobody else has been able to do so… can you logically and without blindly referring to some authority that “says so” explain the assertion that all magic used by humans is bad when the Lewis and Tolkien books are held in such high regard in the Christian community when they both contain such things?

You know, whatever, I don’t care. I’m not even getting any good info in this page. Just arguements and hot headed people (a little to hot for Christians). Oh, and lost wanderer, if you don’t like my lamentation, too bad, I’m just lamenting, and if you don’t know what I’m talking about, then that’s cuz you can’t comprehend right. And, not, it ain’t just a lady that said magic was bad, it was a lady who is from EWTN is only trying to help people to live their life for to the fullest for God. Also, it wasn’t just a lady who said it, it was another lady and 2 dudes (one being a priest). And, finally Lost Wanderer dude, you need to calm down. That’s the nicest way I can say it. Also, if you disagree with somebody, don’t explode, just say you disagree. You don’t have to have an imprudent and rude tone to everyone in this thread that you disagree with. So, I don’t care what you say in reply to this, I’m not even coming back to this page because this page is useless, and so is your rude, imprudent, attitude. Even if I don’t like you, God bless you anyway. GOODBYE!!!

(and Scourgeblade777 moves on with his life

I state facts. Everything I’ve said has been 100% fact. If you have this bad an emotional reaction to facts, then it’s you who needs to calm down. Often the people who are the least rational are the people who are the most offended and angered by facts that disprove their opinions.

You know, whatever, I don’t care.
“Whatever” and “I don’t care” are the last words of someone who has no intelligent reasoning for the statements they’ve made. It’s a very bitter way of conceding that you have no logic behind your points.
Also, it wasn’t just a lady who said it, it was another lady and 2 dudes (one being a priest).
So two ladies and two “dudes” (one who’s a priest) share the same opinion and that makes it fact? Let’s just say that they were the majority (which I doubt) if everything that was the opinion of the majority was considered fact then abortion would be morally ok.

As LW pointed out, it’s you who needs to calm down. Your use of emotion in responses instead of logic is why your points (if you can call them that) fall flat.
