Robert, you are not connecting the dots properly.
The baby boom happened in the 1950s, straight after World War II. it took place long before the advent if the Internet, before Playboy and before the promiscuous 1960s rolled along. The baby boom resulted from peace, Robert. The boom in world population has resulted from increased food security, plus amazing advances in medicine and science. Have you ever looked up life expectancy rates around the world at different times through history? People are living longer Robert and less people die from disease than a hundred years ago. Did you know that during the Roman Empire, Romans had a approximate life expectancy of 22 to 25 years. In 1900, the world life expectancy was approximately 30 years and in 1985 it was about 62 years. What is it today in your country Robert, around 80 years?.If we allowed your thinking on this pornography issue, we be forgiven for thinking porn makes us live longer!! I don’t think so…
The 'widespread sexual abuse of children and wives ’ you mention is not evidenced by any abnormal statistics, but mainly through hearesay. in
post #40 I posted a copy of an English Act the 1861
Offences Against the Persons Act, which tightened public and private morality on this very point using the coercive powers of the state. Yet you still persist in saying the individual should be responsible. Numerous posters have pointed out to you that pornography is an addiction. Individuals cannot police themselves. State sanctions are needed.
You persist in asking can God not bring about some greater good from this evil. The answer is ‘yes, he could if He chose to intervene’. In
post #85 I pointed out to you that if God intervened he would be compromising our Free Will and making our own moral agency redundant. He will not do that. The choice is ours and our salvation depends upon that choice. In the meantime, man is responsible for the temporal order of the world he lives in and the morality by which that society functions. God has gioven us directions and it is up to us to follow them. We must first accept, as a society, that pornography has no redeeming features whatsoever and we must act accordingly, not wait for God.
