Sex, even in a marital relationship, is not that great. Sexual orgasm is based on primitive desires that last for a few fleeting moments. Set your sights higher. Seek the higher-ordered gifts of the Holy Spirit that is granted only in complete sexual abstinence.
Now, where did I put that fishing pole? :hmmm:

Bob,

See the churches teaching on congugal love:

1643
"Conjugal love involves a totality, in which all the elements of the person enter—appeal of the body and instinct, power of feeling and affectivity, aspiration of the spirit and of will. It aims at a deeply personal unity, a unity that, beyond union in one flesh, leads to forming one heart and soul; it demands indissolubility and faithfulness in definitive mutual giving; and it is open to fertility. In a word it is a question of the normal characteristics of all natural conjugal love, but with a new significance which not only purifies and strengthens them, but raises them to the extent of making them the expression of specifically Christian values."152

Bob, why don’t you quote church teaching instead of “bob teaching”…Bob…are you infallible?

Please tell me how I’m misquoting the Saints in my post number 110?
You actually quoted a newspaper allegedly quoting the Saints. But as several of us have already pointed out…a Saint does not trump the Catechism, the Church, the Bible, or the Magisterium.
Can God bring about an ultimate, greater good from EVERY evil Satan has to offer? Please answer this question directly with a yes or no response!

If this is true, can God bring a greater good from porn, like it acting as a raw sewage pipe? Again, please be direct with a yes or no response!
Actually, Robert, I’ve already answered these questions, several times over the course of this thread. Your stubborn adherence to this phantom “raw sewage pipe” is almost pathological.

Again, please answer the two direct responses I requested at the bottom of post number 112. You have yet to answer them directly.

Let us get hot-headed and try to insult instead of growing in wisdom by understanding each others perspective.
Bob, as a Catholic you are to accept the teaching of the magisterium on issues relating to faith and morals. Nor are you to lend support to teachings that are opposed to the magisterium. This is a faithful Catholic forum. I have quoted from the magisterium of the Church, and you did not respond. At this point, you are being obstinate.

Do you reject the teaching authority of the church?

By the way, you have to be either on disability, or retired. I happend to have the morning off because our computers at work are down. I wondered why no matter what time I got on the computer, you would respond immediately. In my opinion you are way to obsessed with this thread.:eek::eek:

I believe in everything Holy Mother Church teaches. I actively abhor porn, nude dancing, and prostitution. The fruits of the Holy Spirit are superior to anything sexual!!! This goes for married couples, as well as those struggling with porn and masturbation.

Please be respectful and understanding of my position on porn acting like a raw sewage pipe in the general population.

Bob,

So were the death chambers at the Nazi concentration camps like raw sewage pipes?

You have a wrong view of divine providence…

Lets say there is a person attached to his posessions. God permits a thief to come and steal those possessions. God did will those posessions to be taken away, but he did not will the sinful intention of the thief.

God can never and will never will sin.

Bob you are propsing that we legalize prostitution and support men going to sin with females. Should we support Nazi death camps. Should we support or tolerate abuse of minors by church priests? Bob you claim since God can bring good from all of this that we should applaud the evil acts, and even in a since tolerate them because God can bring good from evil?

Bob, don’t ever refer to me about some post number. I’ve answered the question. You need answer my questions if you are to be intellectually honest with yourself.

If you were a protestant, or athiest, I wouldn’t site Church teaching. But as a supposed revert Catholic, we should have the same authority to appeal too. But you contradict yourself when you say you accept the magisterium, but then still hold that prostituion has good aspects about itself.

Bob you need to understand the principle of non-contradiction. You can’t be a faithful catholic and at the same time hold positions at odds with being a faithful catholic. I’m afraid you’ve fallen prey to the modern heresy of sillyness.

Nope, nope, nope…sorry, but science is beginning to prove your opinion incorrect. I work with a psychology professor who does a lot of research on the effects on internet pornography on relationships and people’s lives. This person is very secular, not affiliated with any religion, and the body of research from him and others in the field strongly points to porn being problematic. I can PM you some articles if you like.

Is porn really that evil or does it provide a sexual outlet for a hyper-sexualized society?

My personal belief is that porn is, in and of itself, disgusting, but I believe that porn does serve an important service to society in that it does indeed provide a sexual outlet for a hyper-sexualized society. I believe that the biggest evil is in the people watching porn.
This argument doesn’t hold, it’s circular. There’s just as much evidence that our society is “hyper-secularized” BECAUSE of the existence and use of so much porn. Pornogaphy encourages us to view people as sexual objects instead of relating to them as humans. That leads to all kids of abuses and evils.

What part of ASKED AND ANSWERED are you having problems with?
Again, please answer the two direct responses I requested at the bottom of post number 112. You have yet to answer these questions but are pretending to have.

Yes, God can bring good from evil. But “…woe to that man by whom the scandal cometh.” Matt. 18:7.

God will not heal a sinner against his will. God’s Holiness and Purity should be our holiness and purity, the nature of which is absolutely opposed to this vulgar, base, and corrupt pornography.

I agree! However, I also believe that the struggle against porn can lead to a heightened spirituality that was otherwise unobtainable!
