Well, you have stated in your profile that you are an Athiest. By definition an Athiest is one who does not believe in God or any “higher power”. Therefore, you believe and serve NOTHING, NO ONE, NADA, ZIP, ZILCH. I believe in God and therefore I serve Him. I have NEVER denied yours or anyone elses humanity. You deserve to be treated with the same amount of dignity as any other human being from the Pope to a mass murderer. Even if you don’t believe in God, you are created in His image, of this I have no doubt.

As for reason, while many may say women lack reason, I will say that I have the ability to be reasonable and am more logical than most people I know. I am also a sinner and understand what I (as well as others) are capable of. Having seen the ugly face of my sin, I have seen evil. I have seen the evil I have freely agreed to. I have also seen the good that I have freely agreed to and the love of others. I know from my personal experience that that little voice inside of me (the Holy Spirit) has guided me out of evil so that I may begin to live a life of love. For me, while when discussing politics I may fall into an “us vs. them” mentality at times, when it comes to real life people I try to avoid being an “us vs. them” but I will NOT allow someone to make statements in which I personally have experienced the contrary without speaking up. And, I assume your approach is the same.

Someone who does not believe in God doesn’t mean they believe in nothing. That’s just jumping to conclusions - not logical at all. And I don’t think in the concept of ‘serving’ some power or being ‘served’ by someone else in like a master and slave relationship. That’s not the kind of relationship i want with anyone.

U presume correct. For a thread that has nothing to do with atheism, many of the posters has seen fit to use the discussion to insult atheists and anyone who gets in the firing line. I had no intention of joining this thread but i have issues with folks jumping down the throat of a lone poster for daring to disagree.

BTW - i don’t think women lack reason.

I hope you are not actually leading these RCIA groups you claim you are helping with in prison. Those poor guys are confused enough.

As a matter of fact, I am leading them. Our bishop confirms 15 men who will receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit this Saturday morning in Lamesa, Texas.

Among these gifts … Wisdom, Understanding, Knowledge … everything Satan hates and threw back in God’s face.

I hope you will join me in praying for these men, and for me and all my inadequacies.

Yes. He’s smarter than we are. That’s why we’re to be on our toes. Each man is to work out his salvation with fear and trembling.

That’s why I am the “by the books” gal that I am. Anything “new” or “novel” is suspect to being a craft of the Evil One…

The Depost of Faith has been given to us, and we all should be careful not to stray from that. It is a narrow path—full of thorns and roses.

After all that, how can you possibly conclude that God is loving and compassionate? Any being that is in a position to stop bad things happening but doesn’t, is about as far removed from good as it is possible to be.

I was answering a question put to me, at NO point have I tried to derail this thread. You haven’t been rigid in sticking to the subject for that matter.

I can offer some balance to an, otherwise, one-sided thread.
 
To the moderator:

If the thread continues to get sidetracked to a debate on the existence of God, I am satisfied to see it locked.

It’s probably all played out anyway.
