When I think about it, the word Geez is simply a corrupted, shortened form of the name Jesus. Is it therefore wrong to say the word Geez?
i don’t know.I thought geeze was a contracted version of gee whiz? Is it wrong to say gee whiz?

Looks like we guessed right.
NO!When I think about it, the word Geez is simply a corrupted, shortened form of the name Jesus. Is it therefore wrong to say the word Geez?
Yes, therefore it’s wrong to say the word in vain, and an offense against the Second Commandment, though the matter here is not necessarily grave. In fact, almost all interjections are contractions of phrases which offend against this Commandment. When I think about it, the word Geez is simply a corrupted, shortened form of the name Jesus. It says that it is “apparently”, not “certainly”, the case that “gee whiz” is connected to “Jesus”.
But than that would just be another form saying “Jesus”It says that it is “apparently”, not “certainly”, the case that “gee whiz” is connected to “Jesus”.
In any event, don’t say “Geez”. Just say “Cheez”.
nope! Same intentHow about sheesh?![]()
My intent is not to use Jesus’s name.nope! Same intent![]()
gee whiz is a further elaboration on geez, which in turn is a contraction of Jesus.I thought geez was a contracted version of gee whiz? Is it wrong to say gee whiz?
Obviously, the intent is to sound like the Holy Name.No. Language is not merely formal but requires intention. If you do not intend Jesus! in saying Geeze, then by all means, and with the Cheese Whiz, say Geeze.
