Is SiriusXM Catholic Guy show blasphemous?

I wouldn’t put the blasphemous tag on it. I would say that the sirius Catholic Channel is a horrible channel that is not very Catholic at all.

I’d do what 99.999 Percent of the world does and ignore it. That specific person is following this trend in some Catholic circles and instead of offering Catholic spirituality for men, takes a false idea of manhood and mushes it into Catholics with little to no introspection.

Same with the podcast Catching foxes…
 
That’s a different idea on the issue; thank you. I guess I’d much rather “too much” reverence over too little reverence.
 
It’s okay to simply say the show isn’t to your taste without needing to label it blasphemous or leading people astray.
I myself don’t like Catholic talk shows unless a priest or religious order membet is discussing spiritual matters, Scripture, etc on them. If I want info about Catholic travel, I read a blog like The Catholic Traveler. Or I just talk to someone I know personally who has been there.
Doesn’t mean the show is bad, I just choose to not spend time on it.
 
The Catholic Channel content is not for everyone. There are a couple great shows like “Crux of the Matter” and “Pathways to Learning”. Pretty much the rest of the shows are simply meant to be entertaining rather than informative.

Just as an aside Lino does have a theology degree. On the rare occasion he isn’t just doing comedy, he is pretty solid. I personally can’t stand the show. Culturally, I just can’t relate to it.
 
Blasphemy? Nuts.

If anything, it was a throw off nod to our LORD’S human nature. Whether or not HE had a genetically perfect body, someone walking those hills (for 70 to 100 miles! Not a recreational hiker.) on an ongoing basis, would indeed have awesome legs.

Gosh, I haven’t listened to that show in YEARS! And now his is stuck in my head. UGH!!!
My mom used to listen, but then after a while she realized that Lino was making some rather mean comments (I don’t remember what, but I think it was an overall mean time), so she stopped listening to his show.

Ironically, Cardinal Dolan’s show is the ONLY show my mom listens to, IF she listens to the channel. This is why I seem to have a little bit more leeway with him, because if I ever visit St. Patrick’s Cathedral, I’m going to bribe him into orthodoxy with COOKIES!

a) No, he’s not blasphemous.

b) Not all Catholics are comfortable with the same things, and one man’s perfectly-fine-in-itself sense of humor can be another man’s cause for stumbling. If the show makes you feel uncomfortable, it’s all right to avoid it!
 
I don’t see how it could be a stumbling block. Changing the channel is so easy. I think the natural tastes on has will result in those leaving who do not like that kind of talk, and those who like that fluffy banter will stay.
 
I am getting a lot of this type of advice and believe that it’s solid. I just fear the lack of reverence in today’s culture. I am only in my mid thirties but would cringe if my kids ever spoke like this. I would rather have “too much” instead of too little reverence. Thank you!!
 
I kind of like it. I can see where people wouldn’t. He comes across as irreverent, but the underlying theme is that no matter how much of a screwup he is, he is always getting back up again and trying. A good lesson for all of us. I much prefer his show to Gus Lloyd. He is too sanctimonious for my taste.
 
What a nice viewpoint you have; thank you! I am opposite in that I see Gus Lloyd as somebody I can learn from. It sees like he scoots on the very edge of what might be considered as acceptable. I am so happy I started this forum though because I see that I might be prudish. But consider that my “prude” behavior would probably be considered liberal hundreds of years ago. Are we in a solid state of declination?

Being a prude is a good position to grow from. We all grow from somewhere. Some have ingrained sins that they are always growing out of. But even from a state of holiness and high moral values, there is the growth out of pride and intolerance of those whose sin is different than our own. Of course I do not know you and am just speaking in generalities.

Not a big fan of the “Catholic guy” show. I don’t get a lot out of a Catholic comedy hour. I understand the Catholic channel wanting to be hip and attract the younger crowd but it’s just not for me. I do however like Seize the Day with Gus Lloyd listening through my morning workday. But after that I switch to EWTN radio for the rest of the day.
 
I’m sorry I don’t really understand what you were saying. Would you mind please explaining it a little more?
 
I like Seize The Day as well. Morning Air (on Relevant Radio) is pretty good too. The Patrick Madrid show is tops, in my opinion, for learning more about the faith.
