Do you think that society is more violent than it was 50 years ago? What do you think has contributed to this rise?
Yes.
Technology.
I think that violence has been in human hearts since Cain and Abel, and probably hasn’t changed much. Society, though, now has better tools of violence at all levels of subtlely. More powerful means of communications let people incite anger about stupid things across the globe in hours, when it used to take centuries.
If you were in the supermarket and bumped into someone elses car, would you be worried about confronting the person who’s car you’d damaged for fear of violent reprisal?
No. I’m good at being so very sorry when I mess up and so concerned for the other person’s predicament that I can usually defuse all but the most vicious people.
Are there places you wont go at night in your town/ city?
Yes. In Wichita as long as I’m in a car that’s in pretty good shape I don’t worry about it too much. When I lived in Chicago that was a different story; a repo guy who was pretty tough looking once told me of neighborhoods he would not even venture into during the day, accompanied by two very large black police officers.
When you go at night socially, are fights a common scene?
No. I hate fights especially if there’s any chance I might get hurt. I’ve had friends who told me they used to go look for fights, not because they were angry but because they liked to fight. I kind of admired their simplicity of motive, but couldn’t imagine sharing it.
Do you think this is a natural progression in society or is it a disease we need to cure?
It is a disease we need to keep ourselves from catching. Other than that, according to prophecy I don’t think there’s much we can do to stop it. IOW, it’s a natural progression that will continue until Christ comes again to cut it short, lest we all kill each other.
