Yep and I also read that they don’t care if we are customers. OK by me.
those nice people at starbucks took the time to craft a very wordy form letter that didn’t say much and thats all you people can focus on, is the lack of a message?

😛

Starbucks where I live is $ 1.97 for a venti. Turkey Hill coffee tastes like it costs a dollar
Kathy
That’s another thing I hate about Starbucks…this “venti” and whatever else they call their sizes…trying to be all trendy and whatnot. Very cheesy. When I was there I still ordered a “medium” or “large,” I’d feel like a fool ordering my coffee saying “venti.”

But with all of their anti-Catholic anti-life propaganda, I will get my coffee elsewhere from now on.

The quote doesn’t even make sense.

Of course we’re not strong enough to get ourselves out of any problem we cause. This guy wasn’t “cognating” very much.

Take that loser relation of yours (hypothetical). He’s broke, smokes dope, his GF is preggers and he’s in poor health.

Now, by this Einstein’s logic, he should be able to fix himself because after all he got himself into it.

The fallacy is that screwing up in many cases is the absence of energy or ability.

I guess I’m in the minority, but I like Starbucks and their little sayings on their cups don’t bother me. I’m strong in my faith that comments from non-believers of any sort do not bother me. I feel sorry for them, but that’s it. There are plenty of people who will see this as anti-religious but people who don’t believe will see many things as us trying to impress our religion on them. Unless I have to sign a form saying I agree with it to be there, it doesn’t bother me.

Starbucks is a business that in order to survive and grow must appeal to the largest audience possible. I can’t afford to get in there too often but when I do I treat it as a business. They sell coffee, and as long as I like the coffee and pay for it there’s no problem. If they give me ****** coffee then I would rebel. Otherwise I leave it alone. They are not tricking people by saying they are something they are not. They don’t hide anything. If you don’t like what they do then by all means don’t shop there. While I would prefer to be able to do business with a company that completely shares my beliefs and doesn’t spend its money somewhere I don’t like, its not possible where I live. So I do the best I can. That’s all anybody can do.

With all due respect, I happen to disagree with your comments.

I sliced out all the stuff in the middle (people can go back to your original quote if they just click on the arrow next to your name in what I’ve quoted) and kept the stuff that really stuck out to me.

Just like if you were to see someone beating their child in public, or else shoving a wheelchair bound senior citizen down a ramp with no place safe to wind up, it’s important that we DO say something. That is what we can do.

While I see so much of the “Live and Let Live” philosophy rearing it’s head, I know the pain and the hurt that can be compounded and spread by remaining silent.

What’s that quote about 'First they came for the… ’ that winds up with ‘When they came for me, there was no one to speak for me’ quote? It had to do with the Jews in Nazi Germany, but let’s face it: if we do not know our history, we are DOOMED to repeat it.

When people do wrong, and you remain silent, you are not just condoning their actions, but you are enabling and encouraging them to repeat their offenses.

I don’t think that’s a very Christian attitude.

It is my understanding that Starbucks supports planned parenthood. A local priest mentioned it as to why a discussion group was meeting at a different coffee shop.

Can anyone confirm this?
From an economic point of view it never made sense to me to support organizations that destroys your future customers.

In addition to coffee, milk, flavoring and sugar in their drinks they must put in some sort of bs to convince people that $4.00 for burnt tasting coffee is a good thing. The one time I had star bucks coffee, years ago, I sent it back. All the half and half on the counter couldn’t cover up for the burnt flavor. They must have run out of the BS ingredient that day.

I wrote them about this issue. Here is my answer from them:
PRECISELY the answer my husband got from them. Clearly, they don’t care that an apparently significant number of Catholic customers (now ex-customers) are offended. You can be darn sure that they wouldn’t be supporting song lyrics offensive to other religious groups.

Anti-Catholicism is not only one of the last acceptable prejudices, it is viewed, in certain, ever-growing circles, as a positive. (One of the reasons I have been so vocal about the recent clerical scandals is that I feel they handed virulent anti-Catholics just the opportunity they have been seeking.)

I still enjoy Starbucks coffee as well. I will continue to do so.

Right now I am enjoying a cup of their Estima Blend…wonderful.

Another Starbucks thread? Geez louise…get over it. Don’t like it, don’t buy it. I like MickeyD’s coffee anyway (thanks chris).

I agree with katie1723…

If there is a poster out there who has the “list” of no-no commercial products, services, businesses, et al ad naseum please ask CAF to post it as a “sticky”…so those folks who don’t know what to eat, drink, wear, etc., can use it for a reference? It may serve to keep threads like this from repeating.

I like Starbucks for an occasional treat…that is about it. If I had to sit around all day checking a list because I’m paranoid …I guess I would have to go live in a cave.

Pssst…Juliana I am trying to get the Starbucks concession in heaven. I hear the good Lord likes a cup when he’s going over the books.
