Watched this fascinating story on the History Channel the other week. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church claims it has the Ark of the Covenant.

Never heard of this claim before. Very interesting but not sure of the validity.

It’s History Channel. Therefore it’s probably anything but.

The Ethiopians do claim to have the Ark of the Covenant, however they don’t allow outsiders to see it.

Sounds like you don’t trust History Channel? That’s okay I understand, I feel the same about Fox Channel I will never watch Fox News (all opinion no facts).

Did you watch the whole program?

“Because thou hast seen me, Thomas, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and have believed.” ~ John 20:29

Do you believe they have it?

I like History Channel till they started running all those Ancient Alien shows those are so ridiculous.

Depends who you ask.

At least one source claims the IDF took the Ark back to Israel in 1984.

ICXC NIKA

I get that feeling about the news from all of the liberal media stations like CNN. Fox is just the least liberal. It actually provides some facts unbiased.

This is one reason why a person needs to have all the books of the bible. The ark was hidden until the end of time by Jeremias…

[BIBLEDRB]2 Maccabees 2:1-8 [/BIBLEDRB]

T^he whole idea that the Ark of the Covenant is in Ethopia, defies historical fact.
According to its’ Biblical description, the Ark was made of wood and covered in Gold. The last time the Ark was mentioned in the Old Testament is before the sack of Jerusalem by the Babalonians.
In all probability, it was destroyed when the Babalonians sacked Jerusalem, burned the Temple and looted it of all of its gold (ca.587 BC). In all probability, the gold covering the Ark would have been stripped off and the Ark and its contents destroyed.
The Idea that somehow the Ark could have been taken into Africa is simply ridiculous and has no basis in fact.
This story ranks with all of the space alien and DaVinci Code claptrap on the mis-named History Channel.
The biggest waste of money I have ever done was when I became a life member of that channel. What a rip off!!!

Let me think. Was this by the way, research done by the Naked Archeologist?

Really, I agree with others that the History channel is no such thing. It might be better named the sensationalist channel! I agree with the reading from Maccabees - God ail show us in His time.

I respect the work done by professional archeology. There is a lot of solid information/research out there on which to build a good series of shows on History. I wish they would do so.

Is the Ark of the Covenant in Ethiopa?
No, she’s in Heaven!😃

Even if it was found, it would be nothing more than a historical artifact, a very important, religiously significant, wooden box covered with gold. It’s discovery would teach us many things about the ancient Israelites but nothing essential to the faith. What would we do with it, place it in the Holy of Holies of a rebuilt temple? For what, offering sacrifices? Oh wait…

I actually watched that show by the way. There’s also another on the history channel where the host makes a case for the ark of the covenant being a wooden bowl he found in a museum. Watching the history channel is kind of like my version of reading the gossip column in tabloid newspapers.

I tend to distrust the History Channel as well, because they seem to make it a habit to always challenge historic orthodox Christianity.

But I have heard of the Ethiopean claim for years and from many sources and not just the History channel.

I am with you on Fox News, but to many ultra right Catholics who seem to be the majority here in America they are gospel.

Actually, the Ark of the Covenant is in my back yard. But you can’t see it.
