Is the judgement day nearer? Because the things happening this days are written in the bible and is similar to the movie 2012 that they predect the world for the coming year.:signofcross:

Only God knows, but I feel these events are related to his unhappiness with the world and what we have made of it. Until people come back to God, and try to lead a God centered life, I think things will get worse, not better. Just IMO.

There’s always been a lot of bad and wars. It feels like Jesus should just come and fix everything now, but the He made it sound as if it’s going go get far worse than this.

However, Our Lady of Fatima and Jesus (to St. Faustina) said that the last days are near and they indicated that prayer is delaying them. However, I’m not really sure what they meant by ‘near’.

This site: rexresearch.com/mary/maryapps.htm

Lists some Marian prophecies. They are really interesting.

Also, these are what Jesus said to St. Faustina (the last quote is what Mary says to her):
You will prepare the world for My final coming. (Diary 429)
Speak to the world about My mercy … It is a sign for the end times. After it will come the Day of Justice. While there is still time, let them have recourse to the fountain of My mercy. (Diary 848)
Tell souls about this great mercy of Mine, because the awful day, the day of My justice, is near. (Diary 965).
I am prolonging the time of mercy for the sake of sinners. But woe to them if they do not recognize this time of My visitation. (Diary 1160)
Before the Day of Justice, I am sending the Day of Mercy. (Diary 1588)
He who refuses to pass through the door of My mercy must pass through the door of My justice. (Diary 1146).
In addition to these words of Our Lord Sr. Faustina gives us the Words of the Mother of Mercy, the Blessed Virgin,
You have to speak to the world about His great mercy and prepare the world for the Second Coming of Him who will come, not as a merciful Savior, but as a just Judge. Oh how terrible is that day! Determined is the day of justice, the day of divine wrath. The angels tremble before it. Speak to souls about this great mercy while it is still the time for granting mercy. (Diary 635).

It has to be by the observation of time passing. We are one day closer this morning than we were yesterday at this time. More importantly, we are each one day closer to our last than we were yesterday.

I keep in mind that, in a way, ~every day~ is Judgment Day, since it’s based on what we’re doing ~now~ and all the times before now, that we will be Judged, if it comes to that, for some of us.

Kyrie Eleison,

Logically - Yes! each day brings us nearer to the Judgement day.
Not “because” of things like are in the movie 2012 etc, but simply because that is how time works.

And whether something happens in 2012 or not is not important and should not be our focus.
Regardless of what happens in 2012, we will each face Judgement day both Particular and General. Best to be on watch and protect our soul today than to worry about some popular predictions…

Peace
James

The turmoil which we see happening int he world today is relatively minor in comparison to that which has already passed. The reporting of it has increased, since the news media is a hyperbolic, profit-driven entity. Think of this: 100 years ago, unless your neighborhood was at war, the world would seem at peace to you. And, in most places today, at most times, the world is peaceful. Can you see any Old Testament type wars occurring today? Kings marching with armies of hundreds of thousands against other kings similarly equipped? Actually, what we have is a system that reports each and every thing that occurs on this earth - as it happens. So, it seems like the end is near. The end may come today, that is why we are commanded to stay alert and watch. As a practical matter, the end times occurs for each of us with the last breath we take. However, I do keep my eyes on the sky a little more often than I have in the past.

judgement day is at hand, every day, it may be in the next hour for you or me so our lives should be conducted on that expectation.

The whole “2012” matter is also nonsensical and as superstitious as those who thought the end of the Gregorian calendar millennium in 2001 would be a end-of-time catastrophe.

The Mayan’s “long count” calendar, to put it simply, has a millennium-like peak where it begins a count that is not different than our counting of time, except the largest of the multiple-cycled Maya calendars have cycle periods of several thousand years. The last happened in 1618, and time didn’t stop there. 🙂

Contrary to popular wisdom, the Mayans still exist as a people. They’re getting a bit annoyed by people who think they disappeared from the planet, Aztec-style.

I’ve heard this too. Back just 100 years ago, there were disease pandemics, natural disasters, wars, etc. that went virtually unreported (by today’s standards). You pretty much had newspapers maybe published twice a day in major cities… but not always… and that was it. It didn’t mean those things didn’t happen, it just meant most people were unaware of them happening.

Now there is so much media (TV, cable, radio, internet, magazines, and newspapers) all competing with each other and many of the 24/7 service that they report every thing they can. I also think it’s why reporting is so bad sometimes… in the rush to get the news out before the other guy, they don’t fact check as much (or at all), etc.

As for the end is near, I always wondered from who’s perspective… man with his finite mortality or Our Heavenly Father’s–who has been around for all eternity. I think that could make a big difference. But like others said, what does it matter. Everyday is really judgment day and we should do our best to act as such.

When man ties to predict the end, he makes an attempt at the authority which is God’s alone. Is not this the same error our forebears committed int he garden, wanting to be like gods?

Certainly the world and all of human history will be judged but I also will be judged for my life. I want to be ready for that day personally as well as corporately, which is why I pray for the Church and for other people. I do not know that I will die before the Second Coming, but by virtue of precedent it looks to be the case. I think it’s good to keep a balanced perspective on things like God’s judgements and the final things, so long as we still have work to do on this end of it all.

None of that is correct. Nothing is happening to day that has not been happening in the past. We have always had wars, disease, famines, earthquakes and other natural distasters. It is simply because of technology and global communications everything little thing is reported today.

I don’t think I would care to look at it that way, as if to tell myself that things are just going to always keep going the way they have been, because they always have, and so risk ignoring my God, and His will, because… after all. I don’t have to worry about Judgment day, till it’s Time…

When I consider that ~Every~ day, is Judgment day, That keeps my mind right. Because, in a very ~real~ sense, it is. I’ll be judged according to what I did yesterday, today, and tomorrow. That keeps me walking in His path, and that keeps me unafraid, because I take care to watch my step, and keeps me from becoming apathetic, knowing that, at some point, He’s coming back to make things right… and it could be ~any~ time.

I can understand why some would ~worry~ about that, fretting and looking over their shoulders, fearing calamity… but if that’s what it’s supposed to be all about, then why would Jesus have so specifically told us to Be Not Afraid, so often, and in so many ways?

In other words you agree with me. What is happening in the world today is not a sign that judgement day is near!
Jesus told us to always be ready so its a waste of time people trying to look for signs of the end.

Jesus always said how easy things are to comprehend (10 to 2 commandments).
with pope the xvi now speaking and 16 being the psalm of Jesus,it very possible the end times are really just starting to begin.
there will be much peace before, then calamity, before our Lords arrival.
a way to go just yet i guess
never mind!!

It never fails, whether it’s in person or online. have a conversation about the End Times, and someone will object in some manner to the very discussion topic at hand. No one is setting dates, no one is denying the possibility they could die today, yet a surprising number of people just have a major problem with a rational discourse on the Second Coming. If Jesus didn’t want us to even contemplate such things, he obviously would not have even given us signs to watch for.

I agree with you, that it’s a waste of time worrying that Judgment day is coming, looking for signs, and fearing “the end”… only if I were ~some~ people, I might think to worry a little more than others, and what place they might have in the new beginning,

Kyrie Eleison,

The end time will be made known to the faithful. Look at how God has acted in relation to believers: at the Pentecost, the sound of the rushing wind occurred as the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles. But wait! It also did something else. The devout men in Jerusalem upon hearing the sound, all gathered (Acts 2:5-6). This is huge. Since our Lord has said that we will see signs in the sky, like lightning flashing from east to west, I am convinced that believers will know that the Parousia is occurring. No doubt. We will not confuse it with global warming. That will come later…
