Is the number 666 associate with papacy?

Glory to Lord that i have found relevant answers to each distrust i heard and read about the Catholic church and im doubtless.
Thanx Jesus, you are the one who lead me into your true church.
For now im confortable with Catholic church and im preparing myself for conversion but i don realy know how i will go about.
Pray for me please im going to experience great chalenge from the rest of my family once they discover that im not Muslim anymore.

Praying for you, and I hope there is a Catholic Church near you so that you can discuss conversion with a priest.
 
In her book “The Great Controversy” Ellen Gould White made the claim that the pope was the anti-Christ based on an alleged inscription in his tiara.
Firstly that has never been the title of the pope. However if one applied the same rules to her name, it would also be 666.
No-one believes that she is the anti-Christ either.

Take it from there, I know nothing more. I only bet my last dollar that it didn’t refer to the pope - unless you mean the pope of Alexandria, not the pope of Rome. The first popes of Alexandria were Marcionite, not Catholic. That is why the bishops of Alexandria are successors to St. Mark (Mark-ionite, followers of Mark). “Mark” in Greek has the same meaning as it does in English, a ‘mark’, such as for example, the ‘mark’ of ‘F’ on the forehead, or the ‘mark’ of the stigmata (the ‘st’ in stigmata was originally this same letter ‘F’ in the Greek word). I might add that most of these early Christian fugitive slaves were Marcionite Christians, not Catholic Christians. Hence, odds were high that if you saw a man with an ‘F’ (i.e. the number ‘6’) on his forehead in those days that the man was a ‘marked’ man, that is a Marcionite Christian. If I were to guess I would say that ‘666’ refers to the faith of those marked with ‘6’, the Marcionite faith - but I honestly do not know what or who ‘666’ refers to.

The Marcionite Faith did not encourage the return of slaves to their masters, but considered it a gospel teaching that those who hid escaping slaves and helped prevent their return to their masters were were doing the right thing. But the Catholic faith, wishing to gain the favor of the Roman Empire, did the opposite, encouraging slaves to return to their masters. Slaves were seen as necessary to the economic stability of the Roman Empire. The very idea that ‘FFF’ (‘666’) would be associated with Rome in any way would be unthinkable in those days!

In case the reader of this post does not know it, I should point out that the Marcionite faith is considered to be a heresy by the Roman Catholic Church. Also, one is not considered to be a true martyr though he dies for the sake of Christ if he is a heretic according to Roman Catholic and Orthodox Christian teaching.

I ask for the prayers of those holy martyrs who had an ‘F’ branded on them before they were killed during the persecution of Christians around the time of †177 A.D.!

Apparently in some Bible translations the number of the Beast is 616, not 666. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_of_the_beast.
 
the last anti Christ controversy I remember is back in 1981 when Ronald Wilson Reagan was elected.

I’m truly not poking fun at you, but the whole 666 thing always makes me laugh a little. Do you really think that when the anti-christ appears that he’ll tattoo “666” across his forehead to give everyone on earth a heads up? 666 is symbolic–nothing more. The pope is not an anti-christ, unless of course you are a 7th Day Adventist in which case you apparently believe that every Pope is and was an anti-christ and that the Catholic church is the “whore of Babylon”. They apparently believe there are over 200 anti-christs total–one for each Pope! In that case, I’m not sure there are enough psych meds out there to fix you–LOL!

I heard of a street in a town numbered 666 North Orizaba. Maybe if I went through the front door, I’d fall all the way to hell!!! Please advise—LOL!:yup::yup:
 
Calling the Pope the antichrist is the same thing as what the Pharisees did when they accused Jesus’ power as coming from the devil. The attempt to demonize the Pope was how the 16th century Protestants tried to justify leaving the only Church that was founded by Christ.

…They say the best example you can show to others is how you live and treat others.
…Just be safe out there if you live in an area that views what you did as a crime.

7 is the # of God which is* perfection*. To the Jews to seven yourself is to swear an oath (see Dr Scott Hahn). Notice 7 sacraments (the perfect # of sacraments), 7 days in the week, 7 prime #, 7 salts in chemistry, the list goes on - 7 is reflected in many places.

If 7 is perfection, what is less than 7 is less in perfection: 6 is less than the perfect # of 7. However, Jews did not have superlative in their language (good, better, best) so when they said something they meant, they said it 3 times: Peter, do you love me?.. Lamb of God… Holy, Holy, Holy…

so to say 6 - 3x is something really rotten/bad/downright evil:eek:

Jesus set up his Church, complete with his prime minister, the Keeper of the Keys (whose job is to Feed my Sheep) of which Jesus is in control of despite what some may think.

Adding up letters in a name is neither here nor there in my estimation. 👍

One of the priests on EWTN was preaching on John chapter 6 and he said he thought it ironic that the verse where some of Jesus’ disciples couldn’t stand his saying about eating his flesh and drinking his blood and they walked away was “John 6:66”😃
 
Whatever the ‘number’, whatever the meaning, I personally hold to Jesus’ words - “And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven.”

That is my spiritual rock and anchor, central to my hope of salvation through Jesus.

ps. ajecphotos - My local takeaway menu only goes to around 250.
pps. Chinese counting in its methodology is much the same as Latin counting. I can still remember 1 to 100 in Cantonese, from living in Hong Kong and Singapore as a child. My dad was in the British Army. Happy days.

66 - And he said: Therefore did I say to you, that no man can come to me, unless it be given him by my Father.

I would not consider this an accurate accounting of the history of the Reformation, at least from a Lutheran perspective.

I thought this whole discussion would have been rendered moot by the fact that the bogus papal title is in Latin but Book of Revelation was written in Greek, so one would have to use Greek gematria to produce the 666. Also, the number is six hundred sixty-six, not just three sixes. So you would have to have a Greek name or title totaling that amount. Interestingly, some older manuscripts give 616 as the Number of the Beast.

So beware these numbers:

666 - the number of the Beast
668 - the neighbour of the Beast
666 to1 - the odds of the Beast
(666) - the area code of the Beast
752.58 - the number of the Beast with 13% harmonized sales tax
029A - the hexadecimal of the Beast

I worked at a fast food join in high-school, and a combo #1 with an extra hot dog came to $6.66. I called it the Combo of the Beast.
