Is the Pre-1955 Holy Week celebrated anywhere?

In my mind there comes a time where inorganic changes need to be made to correct things that have occurred through organic changes.

For example. Having the Easter Vigil Mass during the morning on Holy Saturday. A correction needed to be made to return it to after dusk. Also anticipated vespers before noon so that they could eat their mid-day meal.

Both of those were organic changes in response to a perceived need in the community. Both of them were wrong in my mind and needed to be fixed. It was not going to be fixed organically.

Br. David and Rich C, you ahve exactly highlighted the types of changes trads don’t have a problem with.

Almost everything else is quite inorganic. Some of it nonsensical even, such as switching orders of sprinkling palms and imposing incense – seems like change for change’s sake. I don’t have references with me and I don’t have time right now to write a better answer, but I think it helps to undrestand my point if those asking realize that reasonable examples like moving the times of the Holy Week liturgies back are precisely the kinds of things most trads don’t have a problem with.

I don’t know how many times I’ve heard, “I’d love to have the older Easter Vigil back, but I would still like to have it at night!” It makes sense.
