But HOW is this to be accomplished? Is there a single criteria that everyone; every faith can accept? Just One?
The rule, as I see it, is docility to the Holy Spirit - just as the inspired writers used, and which the Church relies on for all discernment regarding faith and morals.

Our Lord provided us with the correct guidance in every matter of faith and morals: Matthew 18:15-20
Knox Bible (KNOX)
15 If thy brother does thee wrong, go at once and tax him with it, as a private matter between thee and him; and so, if he will listen to thee, thou hast won thy brother. 16 If he will not listen to thee, take with thee one or two more, that the whole matter may be certified by the voice of two or three witnesses. 17 If he will not listen to them, then speak of it to the church; and if he will not even listen to the church, then count him all one with the heathen and the publican. 18 I promise you, all that you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and all that you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 19 And moreover I tell you, that if two of you agree over any request that you make on earth, it will be granted them by my Father who is in heaven. 20 Where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there in the midst of them.

This is true, but NOT truly comprehended as evidencied by the THOUSANDS of differing understands in Protestant beliefs.

So, again I ASK:

Is there One Infallible rule that applies to everyone, and to which everyone cannot take exception?

With all the variant bible versions, churches and faiths; is there a single Infallible Rule for right understanding of the bible.

If so, what is it IYO?
THE infallible rule is to read it in light of church teaching.

For Jesus said, “he who hears you hears me.”

The bible came from the church who gave it birth.
It is a part of the teaching of the church.

Just a thought

“We are many parts, we are all one body.” (hymn)

111 But since Sacred Scripture is inspired, there is another and no less important principle of correct interpretation, without which Scripture would remain a dead letter. "Sacred Scripture must be read and interpreted in the light of the same Spirit by whom it was written."77

77 DV 12 § 3.

True, BUT,

That only works for catholics [and then not even all of us]😊

This is TRUE BUT totally dependent upon God’s grace which he chooses not to offer equally to All, ALL of the time.

So is there a PRACTICAL; LOGICAL, Infallibe rule that does apply to all, all of the time, equally?🙂

I’ve read it:) And it is excellent.

But it does NOT answer my question:)
I’m glad you think it’s excellent. It might help if you explained why you think it doesn’t answer your question.

Prayer and the Holy Spirit.

Not of which I’m aware, particularly since various books of the Bible demand different styles of interpretation. For instance, figurative language, such as in Genesis, speaks a truth in a different way than something more declarative, such as Gospel accounts of Jesus’ resurrection, which are understood in another way.

The Church’s 1994 document The Interpretation of the Bible in the Church gives some guidelines for interpreters, but I would suggest it does not meet the criteria for “infallible,” because an interpretation method is not a matter of faith or morals.

I’m on vacation and do not have regular computer access. So here it is. [caps for emphasis; not shouting]🙂 HERE IS THE ONE INFALLIBLE RULE:)

NEVER EVER, CAN MAY OR DOES
ONE VERSE, PASSAGE OR TEACHING
MAKE VOID
INVALIDATE
OR OVERRIDE ANOTHER’
VERSE, PASSAGE OR TEACHING

Such even as a possibility would render the bible worthless for teaching or learning ons faith.

God Bless you,

This should be self explanatory:

Then from 1John 4… Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world……………6 We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit[a] of truth and the spirit of falsehood.

No. Not even for the Church, which is why councils have had to be called to settle controversies.

As a note, for Christians, the right understanding of Christianity comes from the Church, not from the bible. Individuals are not meant to gain Christianity from the bible, but from the Church, The bible is a tool of the Church.

Because God has to provide the Wisdom for RIGHT understanding. Truth is always singular. That’s why we find THOUSANDS of differing Protestant understanding. GOD block their understanding.

Yes indeed!

But if and when God does not permit RIGHT [singular] understanding, even this becomes an impossibility.🙂

See my previous POST for the answer
