Is there a religious vocation where they don't take the vow of chastity?

Like a brotherhood or something where they don’t take the vow of chastity.

For the sake of clarity, all vocations in life call for chastity. I’ll presume you meant celibacy; marriage is one vocation where that doesn’t apply, and as pointed out above, third orders are another option.

All Christians are called to live chaste lives. The promise or vow to chastity made by lay or religious orders simply (and profoundly) strengthen a person’s Baptismal vow to live a holy and unblemished life.

In many Eastern Rites, many clergy can be ordained if they were married prior to receiving Holy Orders.

In the Latin Rite, you can become a Deacon if you are married.

again, being married has nothing to do with it. Married people must be chaste.

Why would a religious person not want to live a life of chastity?

Did you mean a vow of celibacy?
  • A vow of chastity would mean the person is making a vow to avoid sexual sin (not avoid sex if married).
  • A vow of celibacy would mean the person is making a vow not to get married.
  • A vow of continence would mean that the person is making a vow never to have sexual relations.
Attached is a good article with good information about these terms.

God Bless

Technically, diocesan priests don’t take a vow of chastity, they make a promise of celibacy.

Chastity is a prerequisite for celibacy.
Well, this is not technically true.

While it’s true that we are all called to chastity, one can be celibate but not chaste by fornicating.

Chastity i think also means being loyal to your vocation, as was St. Joseph

But the church takes care of that itself for priests and full time deacons.

😜

I’m making the assumption that you mean celibacy!

Technically speaking Catholic priests who do NOT belong to religious do NOT profess celibacy!
RELIGIOUS ORDER priests profess vows of poverty, chastity (celibacy), and obedience!
Diocesan priest profess a vow of OBEDIENCE and the pope says that Latin Rite (Roman) Catholic
diocesan priests must abstain from sex why this matters is that IF the Pope ever changed and allowed
priests to marry and IF he decided they could AFTER being ordained then existing priests could do so.

Right NOW Latin rite priests must be celibate UNLESS they were married protestant ministers who were
permitted to become Latin rite priests despite being married or unless they are Eastern Rite Catholic priests who ARE permitted to be married PRIOR to be ordained.
