Is there any church that is in union with the Pope and the Orthodox Church?

Pope doesn’t actually mean father, it is derived from the Greek pappas. It was, and still is, used as a title specifically for the Patriarch of Alexandria in both the Eastern and Oriental Orthodox Communions.
I have read that in Russian villages, the local priest would be called “pope”.🤷

I’ve never heard that, and it sounds quite strange since the Russian for Father sounds nothing like “pope”. But I’m open t o being proved wrong.

Many Orthodox call themselves Orthodox Catholics, because they believe that their church is the “Catholic Church,” as St. Ignatius called it. But they’re not claiming to be in communion with today’s Church of Rome.
Likewise, there are many Catholics who described themselves as “Orthodox Catholics”

Wasn’t Avvakum called a “protopope”?
Interesting link. Despite that being suggested here, I’ve never heard of anyone in Byzantine Catholicism ever being referred to as a “protopope”.

“Protopresbyter”, yes. The use of that title is consistent with the definition given in the first sentence of the article.

P.S. This Wikipedia article appears to be a “lift” from the entry for protopope in the Old Catholic Encyclopedia.
