What are your thoughts on this?
After reading some Muslim posters on here such as Famdigy and Paarsurrey, they seem to believe in a ‘peaceful’ Islam.
I know most mainstream Muslims do not consider paarsurrey’s denom as Islam, however to us Christians its a branch of Islam.
But ive come to the conclusion after reading some of their posts, they see Islam as peaceful and i dont think either of these would actually hurt anyone or say anything disrespectful to anyone.
I know we dont believe in their religion or what Mohammed preached, but do you think, with these two as an example, Islam could be a peaceful religion?

and yes, i know what the quran says about fighting with the sword etc, but im talking about people that think like Famdigy etc…
Thanks

No.

And one who calls himself a Muslim and believes Islam can be peaceful knows nothing about his koran.

Christians need to ask themselves these questions:

Is there any possibility that “love and peace” can be offered by Satan?

I believe that the answer is ‘YES’.

On the other hand, is there any possibility at all that the Truth can be offered by Satan?

The answer to this is most definitely ‘NO’ because the Truth comes only from the Lord.

And so, this is my sincere advice to both Christians and non-Christians alike, myself included:

Do not search for “love and peace” above all else in your life because you can never be sure where it comes from.

However, when you search for the Truth, then you KNOW that it can only come from your Creator.

Well us Christians know that love and peace was shown to us by Jesus, who is the son of God, so the chances of him leading us astray are 0.
So we know when we learnt from him, we were learning from the creator.👍

Peaceful as a religious system?,I doubt it!

That being said though, I am absolutely sure that there are some followers of Islam who only want to live in peace, be good neighbors and raise their children in a loving home.

The type of Islam those two practice are considered heretical by most Muslims. While I believe I speak for everyone when I say we all strive for peace, I personally believe everyone must find their own path towards God even if it is with Islam, Hinduism, or whatever. Islam in its purest sense is violent in nature and Muslims cannot deny it effectively. What Islam is in desperate need of is a Reformation of it own. Something that centralizes the faith and tells them all what is right and wrong. if that happened I think Islam can and will take a peaceful turn for the better. It is unfortunate that will never happen due to a lot of reasons but the potential is there.

No.

That is empirically false. Muslims are not obligated to agree with your interpretation of the Qur’an, and as a matter of fact lots of Muslims who know the Qur’an quite well believe that it can be interpreted in a “peaceful” direction (I presume you mean in a manner that doesn’t necessitate warfare against non-Muslim governments that are not persecuting Islam or attacking Muslim countries; I have yet to encounter a Muslim pacifist although they are probably out there somewhere).

Then you are a heretic.

NO! Just look at the life of Muhammad, not to mention the violence preached in the Quran! Muslims emulate him in everything. Was he a peaceful person as Muslims claim? What about the way he treated those who simply wrote satyrical poems about him? He had them assassinated. Look at the way Muslims reacted about those silly cartoons. They became violent just as Muhammad would have done.

Muslims are allowed to be peaceful in order to deceive those they want to overcome. I’ve seen Muslim posters on these boards who started posting politely and so on, and then started posting triumphalistic remarks about how Islam cannot be stopped and so on. They sounded like the kind of statements that Hitler could have made.

Look at Paarsurrey’s post 33 on this thread. He appears completely undisturbed by the havoc and cruelty that Jesus and the Mahdi are going to inflict especially on the enemies of Islam!

Then you are a heretic.
Oh, sorry, I didn’t stop to look at your name–obviously you aren’t a heretic (unless one classifies Islam as a heresy, which is reasonable), but a non-Christian.

The fact that you set love and peace against truth does not do much to convince Christians that Islam is superior to our faith!

Nonsense! Love and peace are anathema to the devil.

Of course not! The devil is the great deceiver and a master at making evil appear good and good evil. And there are many people who are duped by him into committing evil deeds while thinking they are doing something good.

You understimate the devil. What some people may consider to be the truth, in reality may be evil disguised as truth!

I think he meant can Satan *offer *love and peace, not that he can truly give it. Muslims most surely don’t believe he can anyway, only God is The Loving (Al-Wadud) and The Peace (As-Salam).

Violence results from many things, mainly hatred. There is no doubt the Quran is hateful towards Christians and Jews. Christians are deluded, kuffar who will end up in hell. So it is unlikely , in my opinion, that a Muslim reading the Quran will come to a “love” conclusion but to hatred. You can feel the hatred in the Quran, and you feel it by the actions of many Muslims. Like i was walking one day on the street and a young guy says : may Allah curse you.

Why? because i was wearing a cross. And he immitates his prophet who cursed the Christians before his death. And he has in mind the Quranic verse that says we are disbelievers going to hell ecc ecc.
Surely he dd not have in mind " bless the ones who curse you and love your ennemies".

my thoughts.

Any book, be it the Qu’ran or Matthew’s gospel, can be cherry-picked for both words evidencing either love or hate. If one were to look only at the KKK and hear them talk about “love” in terms of loving only a certain few and putting everyone else in his/her place, including a willingness to resort to violence to do so, one might conclude that Christianity was a violent religion. If one were to look at Dr. Martin Luther King who even in the face of violence adopted non-violent means as a form of fighting for justice, one might conclude the exact opposite. If one is going to base one’s view of religion on its adherents or the writers of it, then depending on who you choose and how you read them Islam could be either violent or peaceful, just as those outside of the Church give a mixed answer to that very same question when posed with regard to Christianity.

For myself, and my own experience, I can only say that I know no Muslims who prefer violence or war to peace. I know many Muslims who respect and even love me just as I am, a Christian. I know many other Muslims who would like to convert me, but would rather that I never convert than that I do so under compulsion. Certainly I know of Muslims who are different and their is more than enough bloodshed in the name of Islam over the centuries, but I think any Muslims could say the same with regard to Christians and the history of the Church. The way I see many answering this question is about as fairminded as the treatment of Japanese in the United States in 1942.

How can Islam be peaceful when it’s all about apartheid? Muslims will never integrate when living in non-Muslim countries. Here’s an example:

Supremacism, not assimilation. “How can we bring ourselves to congratulate or wish people well for their disobedience to Allah?”

“Mosque says to avoid Western holidays,” by Stewart Bell in the National Post:TORONTO - A Toronto mosque is telling Muslims not to say “Happy Thanksgiving” or invite friends into their homes for turkey dinner on the holiday weekend. The Khalid Bin Al-Walid Mosque says to “avoid participating” in dinners, parties or greetings on Thanksgiving because it is a kuffaar, or non-Muslim, celebration.

A two-part article on the mosque Web site says Muslims should also “stay completely away” from “Halloween trick-and treat nonsense,” Christmas, New Year’s, anniversaries, birthdays and Earth Day.

“**How can we bring ourselves to congratulate or wish people well for their disobedience to Allah? **Thus expressions such as:Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Birthday, Happy New Year, etc, are completely out,” it says.

In 2003, the Khalid mosque, which mainly serves the Toronto Somali-Canadian community, apologized for a newsletter that compared wishing someone a Merry Christmas to congratulating a murderer.

At the time, a junior employee was blamed for the slight, but the mosque’s Web site has since posted similar edicts covering not only Christmas but also virtually every other Western celebration."

Interesting views everyone, thanks for your (name removed by moderator)ut.
All we can do is pray they find the truth.

What to tell you Booklover, I don’t know to what extent Canadian Thanksgiving is a religious vs. secular holiday. I do know in the USA of at least one mosque that has a thanksgiving meal at the mosque on the Friday after Thanksgiviing. As in many other religions, I suppose it takes all kinds. There are plenty of churches that don’t want to have anything with “satanic” Halloween. And I myself would not cry if Santa disappeared never to return again in order that I might truly celebrate Christ’s birth rather than Santa-mas.

The Church has spoken they have the truth. Islam is not a problem.
CCC 841 The Church’s relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.

Of the Unbelievers: “seize them and slay them wherever you find them: and in any case take no friends or helpers from their ranks.” 4:89

Allah has granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit at home. 4:95

…“for the Unbelievers are open enemies to you.” 4:101

For the Unbelievers, Allah has prepared a humiliating punishment. 4:102

O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: nor say of Allah anything but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was no more than a Messenger of Allah… Do not say “Trinity”: desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is One God: Glory be to Him: far exalted is He above having a son. 4:171

From those too, who call themselves Christians, We did take a covenant, but they forgot a good part of the Message that was sent to them: so We estranged them, with enmity and hatred between one and the other, to the Day of Judgment. And soon will Allah show them what they have done. 5:14

In blasphemy indeed are those that say that God is Christ the son of Mary. 5:17.
The Church has spoken. When Muslims read their “holy” book and follow it to the letter we just need to remember that “…together with us they adore the one, merciful God…” and it will all be just fine.

What merciful God? One that believes that all Christians and Jews should be forced to convert to Islam or be killed??? This is not the same God I know!
