Is There Getting To Be a "Cool Factor" To Being Gay - Especially Among the Young?

I voted somewhat as I see support of gay marriage alot from teenaged girls whom I are friends with on Facebook and I think tolerance and accepting the gay lifestyle from young kids will continue to grow as the anti-bully movement in schools continue to takeover.

I will not say so as I do not think it’s any of your business whether my girlfriend and I are having sex or not. And romantic feelings toward someone of the same assigned sex are not sinful. Nowhere in the Catechism does it say I am not allowed to love a woman. In any case, I was giving an example of typical treatment given to anyone society deems to be “gay”. Kindly step out of my bedroom.
If you’re a “couple” then you’ve indulged in your perverse attraction. And people aren’t wrong to make valid presumptions. Don’t try to hold a man’s common sense hostage.

I’m done talking to you, as you just make me lose hope in humanity and this forum. When will I learn there is no point?

PS Some people are with a person because they love them, not because they feel sexual attraction to each other.

There are various types of love. You’re referring to erotic/romantic love, the natural and proper consummation of which is in the marital sexual act. This love is only supposed to exist between a man and a woman, and the feelings that spark it are rooted in an evolved physiology which helped induce pair-bonding among mates long enough to rear any children.
Wikipedia (on Vasopressin):
The brain of males uses vasopressin as a reward for forming lasting bonds with a mate, and men with one or two of the genetic alleles are more likely to experience marital discord. The partners of the men with two of the alleles affecting vasopressin reception state disappointing levels of satisfaction, affection, and cohesion.[7] Vasopressin receptors distributed along the reward circuit pathway, to be specific in the ventral pallidum, are activated when AVP is released during social interactions such as mating, in monogamous prairie voles. The activation of the reward circuitry reinforces this behavior, leading to conditioned partner preference, and thereby initiates the formation of a pair bond.[8]
Wiki (on Oxytocin):
Oxytocin secreted from the pituitary gland cannot re-enter the brain because of the blood-brain barrier. Instead, the behavioral effects of oxytocin are thought to reflect release from centrally projecting oxytocin neurons, different from those that project to the pituitary gland, or that are collaterals from them.[47] Oxytocin receptors are expressed by neurons in many parts of the brain and spinal cord, including the amygdala, ventromedial hypothalamus, septum, nucleus accumbens, and brainstem.
Sexual arousal. Oxytocin injected into the cerebrospinal fluid causes spontaneous erections in rats,[36] reflecting actions in the hypothalamus and spinal cord. Centrally administrated oxytocin receptor antagonists can prevent non-contact erections, which is a measure of sexual arousal. Studies using oxytocin antagonists in female rats provide data that oxytocin increases lordosis behavior, indicating an increase in sexual receptivity.[48]
Bonding. In the Prairie Vole, oxytocin released into the brain of the female during sexual activity is important for forming a monogamous pair bond with her sexual partner. Vasopressin appears to have a similar effect in males.[49] Oxytocin has a role in social behaviors in many species, and so it seems likely that it also does in humans. In 2003, a study showed that in both humans and dogs oxytocin levels in the blood rose after five to twenty-four minutes of a petting session. It is possible that this plays a role in the emotional bonding between humans and dogs.[50]
Being in a romantic relationship with someone of the same sex is still wrong, even if it isn’t as sinful without the sexual element. You’re nevertheless indulging in a perversion of romantic feelings and love. The attempt to divorce feelings of romantic love from their proper end and culmination is a deliberate frustration of the natural order. (This is part of the reason why te Church won’t marry a male/female couple that doesn’t wish to have children, and why a marriage isn’t consummated until there’s sex.) It’s also reckless, because it naively places one in proximity to a temptation to sin.

Um, could we maybe get back on the specific topic of this thread?

I really hope that this thread is just a very elaborate piece of satire. Who in their right mind would think that being LGBT is the ‘hip’ thing to do? Makes me sick.

I’m gay, and have to listen to my family talk about how I do not deserve marriage rights / am a filthy person / deserve hell and nothing better. I have had friends stop talking to me and I have to deal with name calling on a daily basis, and now you people have the nerve to tell me I’m only “doing this” because it’s cool? Are you people really THAT far gone?

That really wasn’t the point… No one is saying you or anybody else is gay because it’s ‘cool’, but that teenagers these days often seem to think it is cool.

IMO, it’s a geographical thing… here in Canada, you get a lot of 13-14 year old girls claiming to be ‘bi’ because they think it makes them more interesting.

This thread has been dormant for a considerable period. With rare exceptions, reviving threads after a protracted period of inactivity is discouraged because:
Code:
the issues that spurred them are often no longer "hot" or current topics, explaining why thread activity ceased originally.
posters originally involved in the discussion are sometimes no longer active on the forum and, therefore, unavailable to reply to comments added to the thread.
Our experience suggests that, when a topic merits revival, it is best accomplished by initiating a new thread that draws on recent events and can be posted to contemporaneously. This eliminates the baggage of folks being frustrated by asking and not receiving responses to issues raised in early posts (because the new poster didn’t notice that the post he was responding to was made a long time ago).

Posters are very welcome to open a new thread on the subject or any other topic, as well as to actively participate in the myriad active threads in the fora.

Thank you to all those who have participated in this discussion. This thread is now closed.
