Is there the chance that children can go to Hell?

Well I am not Catholic, so I don’t really think child baptism has any relevance in a child’s salvation, since the child is not the one “choosing” it. Likewise, if the child is not at an age they understand sin and the need for salvation, I can’t find anywhere that they would be held in a sinful state.

As for my agnostic friend, I’d like to think he is in the same childlike state of mind, blissfully ignoring the world around him and completely blameless. Thankfully I am not the judge of the world. I can only judge my heart.

Well, I can’t say for sure. Don’t misunderstand me here, I think they all know the difference between right from wrong, I just don’t think they understand there are consequences for the wrong decisions. As a lawyer, my legal answer is 12 years old. As a parent of three, I’d say my 9 year old has a pretty good grasp of consequences. The other two barely understand the consequences of leaving their lunchboxes on the playground, let alone salvation.

Yes MAYBE,

If by child we include young people who are **fully able **to discern right from wrong, evil from good, and thus libel to judgement.

Younger children not able to discern by themselves right or wrong are held harmless.

Well thank you, your vote of confidence is appreciated and I will take it as a professional deference! My 5 year old knows the difference between R n W on many things, but still does not see a deep or wider consequence other than my reaction. I hardly think she gets to burn in hell for all eternity for some moral slip up.

I think the problem here is, there is no accepting of conflicting ideas. Personally, I think everyone should have the right to say and think as they please. Moreover I don’t think “just ignorance” or serves much purpose other than trying to belittle each other If we want to have an open dialogue then we must be equals.

Well to say NOT would be as if I were removing the judge. I do not have the authority to remove Christ from the judgment seat, but I can offer a perspective that is based on my understanding of the Bible. Ultimately, Children might stand before the judge for what they did, and there very well might be a judgment against some of them because, they knew at a very early age the consequences of their sin (and then died in whatever state). I’m referring to children probably between the ages of 8-12.
