One of my friends was complaining about her husband last night to me. She argued with her husband and was upset. She remembered her ex-boyfriend and thought it might be better if she had married him instead of her current husband.

Do you think that’s alright? I’m afraid that her marriage will come to an end if she keeps thinking about her ex-bf.

Hmmm…well, sometimes people say all kinds of things when they are emotional and upset with a loved one. Now, if she finds a way to contact her ex…starts having email exchanges, lunches, and meetings with him…then that’s a whole other story. I would turn the tables on her, and ask her if she’d like it if her husband were to utter something like that to one of his friends…hmm, she probably wouldn’t like it. I think you are right, if she keeps dwelling on her past…her ex bf…and seeks the ex bf out to start something up again…yes, this marriage is headed for a bad place. But, let’s hope for the best, that she was just angry…and as her friend…encourage her to pray. Whenever my friends are upset about their marriage, life, had a fight with their mom, or work issues…I always suggest for them to pray. I have an atheist friend who laughes when I tell her that but she has begun praying.😉 Praying is contagious, and when we’re talking to God about our problems, He will never give us a sinful answer to our problems. So…suggest that to her, and pray for her, also. I hope things work out!

but do you think is it moral or good to do that? should she stop remembering her ex-boy and to turn to some other things which would improve her relationship with her husband?

i am not married but i believe it’s vital for them to talk about their problems without having to bring up offensive memories (as in the case of bringing up ex-bf) and to talk with open minds so as to make the marriage better.

I don’t think she should say that to the husband. Men have feelings too.

In a moment of anger she can say that and as long as she does not entertain inappropriate thoughts about it then it will end there. If she continues to brew about it and considers contacting the ex-bf then she should really talk to a priest and consider marital counselling.
