Is This Called For At Mass?

Amen, it is actually the most traditional of all the Masses!

Begin at 42 minutes for sung English prayers.

I doubt there is anything concerning “sing-alongs” in the rubrics for the Norvus Ordo either way. The Ordinary Form is hardly strict in dictating what occurs during the liturgy (unfortunately).

It does not sound to me as though what is being spoken of should be described as following the bidding prayers as much as this is part of the bidding prayers, as they conclude.

That would be perfectly acceptable…and provides a nice transition from the bidding prayers to the offertory.

One thing that is always good to focus on at mass is whether or not we are offering the entirety of ourselves to God, as members of the living, breathing mystical Body of Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

If the words of consecration are valid, and the minimums of the mass are met, it is valid. We are distracted from our purpose at the mass if we act as theological Siskel and Eberts. If this is bothersome, approach father and ask him about it.

Otherwise I often observe mass with my glasses off, my eyes closed, so that I am not distracted from my main purpose there.

Just sayin’
