This forum is for the thick-skinned and those prepared to have their posts dissected, told their logic is flawed, have their words broken down to all their various parts and told their definitions are wrong, their analogies are ridiculous, their knowledge of history is pitiful, their denomination is herectical, their spelling is second grade level.

Catholics must endure being called papists, Romanists, “Romish” - my personal favorite, statue worshippers, cannibals, straying from the REAL Word, putting their faith in men, depending on man made rituals for salvation, accused of being anti-Bible, and bashed for the Crusades and the like which happened about 8 billion years ago.

Protestants must endure being called heretical, being is schism, sometimes having their salvation questioned, and be bashed over the head with the Ccc, scorned for lack of knowledge of various quotes of ECF’s, pitied because they don’t have the fullness of truth, patted on the head because they don’t know any better, and generally being a punching bag for budding Catholic apologists.

All in all, jolly good fun. 😃

Thick-skinned, definitely. Leather-skinned, even better.

Cry-babies just don’t make it, here.

For everyone else — :grouphug: 😉

You are one of the nicest, most charitable people here, out of all posters, Catholic, Protestant, or otherwise. :blessyou: :hug3:
I second that. I also think Curious also one of the nicest one not to mention Daniel Marsh… and another who I believe is a Methodist.

Dead on;) wait is that the right phrase or is it spot on:o

Well, you are pretty lovable.🙂

The poor original poster had his question high jacked by our love fest.🙂 See how nice we all are?
LOL I was thinking the same thing:D We have to show him/her that we can be loveable and kind and Christ-like after all.😉

I think you need to have a thick skin to be in here. Inevitably, your beliefs are going to be questioned by someone and sometimes insults do fly. However, CAF is paradise compared to other forums like CARM. You need to have a strong stomach and good temper to go there if you’re Catholic.

I think you might be talking about Zooey (Methodist)… she has a cat on her signature… I have found Contarini’s post’s to be informative and polite–even when we disagree. 🙂

I agree with the others, you have to be pretty thick skinned for the most part. I am normally not thick skinned, quite the opposite. Like AllforHim, I try not to immediately respond when I have been hurt or appalled because I don’t want to be rash. There have been plenty of threads that I had to unsubscribe from because the conversation had turned so bitter and uncharitible.

I have only had one person thus far who has offended me to the point I almost quit coming here. That was one of those “you worship a wafer” remarks, among other Boettner-esque type comments. But I haven’t seen much of him since last year so he might have gotten himself banned.

I have to say that if you can tough out the nasty remarks or just disengage when you see them, it is a worthwhile forum. It makes you learn your own faith (Catholic or non-Catholic) in greater detail. Also, I have learned a lot of scripture and been able to pass on what I have learned to others. I have to be careful though, spending time hear can be addictive. MUST…GET…OFF… COMPUTER…:hypno: 😃

Indeed there have, and I would believe you if you said there have been Catholics banned for being uncharitable towards Muslims (although I have yet to see such a thing); yet this does not seem to have helped the more general problem in the slightest.
Speaking as someone who has been involved in the banning process, I can assure you that Catholics have been banned for being uncharitable toward Muslims.

If anything, CAF has held Catholics to a higher standard when it comes to charity.

I think we should all get a treat for playing so nice together. 👍

.What the lady said.

I don’t care who you are…if you mess up, and I catch it or you get reported, you’re going to hear from me regardless of what faith you adhere to.

It’s not this forum that is for thick skinned people…it’s the entire internet. It’s a rough and tumble environment and especially so in religious discussions.

A review of the Forum Rules and Banned Topics Policy will pretty much lay out the standards that we expect ALL members to adhere to.
