I’m Catholic and my girlfriend is Wiccan. We sometimes talk about our faiths, but I’m wondering if we’re doing it the wrong way?

For example, we were discussing on Pandora (a music site) our different deities one day. I said I believed in one God, she said she believed in multiple gods. I asked her why she believed in many gods and she said the gods were the elements. Than she asked me why I believed in only one God and I said that it made sense that there was only one God, becuase He is entirely Himself, so there is no need for any other god. I asked her if electricity was a god (since she has a thunder god) and she said no, but the god controlled electricity. She asked me if God was a part of the Universe, and I said He was not, the Universe was a creation and He was its Creator, and I think I made a comment on pantheism. Than I retracted my comment on pantheism, because I thought it had offended her, but she said it was okay, she wasn’t offended. After that we talked about heaven, and she said everyone goes to heaven and lives there in eternal bliss. I said Catholics teach a similar doctrine, in that heaven is eternal happiness and those who do God’s Will go to Heaven to join Him. I think she asked me about hell, why God sent people to hell, and I said God sent no one to hell, He wills everyone to be saved, but those who distance themselves from God go to hell because that’s what hell is: an eternal state of separation from God. Than she had to go, and we said goodbye to each other.

Without being able to fill in the blanks, it looks like a mature, normal conversation.

You must always remember to be charitable and kind when discussing these things. Sometimes, we forget that part of what we say may be taken by the other person as a statement that we think that they are damned. This may not be true, but it can seem like that.

2Cr 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

1Cr 10:21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.

Jhn 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, **that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. **

You need to cut off association with your pagan girlfriend. Wicca is a diabolical religion. All false religions, including Islam, have their origin in the devil but Wiccans directly dabble in satanic and occult practices. You need to carry holy water with you and sprinkle it in your home if your girlfriend has been there.

She worships the creation not the creator. If carried out all the way to the end it could be disastorus. Do you remember Pauls speach in the book of Acts? There is only one true God. All other dieties are either figments of imagation or (worse) actual demons posing as gods.

Advise: Try to convert her. If she does not, break it off.

phew That’s a relief 🙂 I thought I was doing it wrong. Thank you!

And thank you for the reminder on charity and kindness 🙂

Judge not, lest you be judged. But thank you for the warning. 🙂

I don’t know if I can sprinkle holy water…I thought priests could only do that. But it is a good idea. I’ll ask my priest about it. 🙂

My spiritual director has told me I can go out with my girlfriend and that I can marry her. But your advice regarding idols and false gods is very true, which is why I am hoping and praying for her conversion. I don’t know if God wants me to be an instrument of her conversion, but I am hoping so, because if she converts than she’ll be freed from the bondage of Satan, e.g., occult practices.

Please pray for her, for the sake of the Passion of Jesus Christ. 🙂

You can bless with holy water without trouble. It is not the same as a priestly blessing, but it is still something

Oh. Okay 🙂 How would I do it? Do I just sprinkle holy water or do I pray as I sprinkle? Can I pray as I sprinkle, or would that be going into priestly blessing? Like “Lord, protect me from evil”?

It is my understanding that a priestly blessing would unclude the sign of the Cross. Asking Jesus to bless the home or to protect it from evil is fine. Just sprinkle the water as you invoke God’s blessing and protection. It may also be a good idea to pray the St. Michael prayer.

My friend,
I highly recommend you to read “An exorcist tells his story”.
Its written by the chief exorcist in the Vatican… I dont remember his name. But the book deals also with witch craft…
the book is clear on one thing I want you to realise: there is no such thing as white magic. All is black. I know a girl who ended in a mental institution after being a wiccan for some years. She had the grace of conversion to Christ while she was there.
What your gf is involved is terribly dangerous and I would even recommend that you strongly consider whether this is a person you want to be with in the future.

Sounds like a fascinating book, but I don’t have money for it, and I’m a bit worried I’ll grow “attached” to it.

I’ve read some interviews from the Exorcist, though, and he is very sound in theology. 🙂

Thanks 🙂 That St. Michael is awesome 😉

Was he answering a question about what is physically possible, or was he answering a question about what would be a good idea? Since the above is certainly physically possible, but at the same time, it is also a really bad idea.

You should either evangelize her, or date her for marriage, but you cannot do both at the same time, since dating for marriage means accepting her and loving her exactly as she is, with no hope or desire for change, while evangelizing her is the opposite - evangelizing her means that you hope she will change and become a devout Catholic.

Go to the library.

if she were my girlfriend, i definitely would invite her to attend mass with me and later explain to her what’s going on. pray for her too. God maybe using you to save her soul.👍
God bless.

I asked him if I could marry my girlfriend, who is Wiccan. I even explained she uses magically occassionally and told him that her priest was trying to kick her out of the Order. He said it was okay to marry. That’s it. If he knew it would be harmful to my soul, he would tell me.

Godwilling, we will marry in a year. I want to take her to Mass, but we are in a long-distance relationship right now, so it’s not possible yet. But if God wills it, it will happen.

Pray, pray, pray! 🙂

See this is where you are wrong… even many many priests have lost the belief that evil spirits exist. Most of them have never done an exorcism. many dont even believe in the reality of a person named satan and his angels. do you think such a priest can tell the danger.? He cant, because his eyes are closed.
Even my own priest said from the pulpit that demon possessions are not real and there was talk of psychological phenomenon only in the NT even though Jesus and his followers did not know this.Garbage talk!
You gotta get the book that I told you about… and tell your gf to read it too.
The problem with people who are playing with the occult is that they think they are in control of the powers they are in contact with, where as they are in fact the ones who are enslaved.
There is no such a thing as white magic and good or neutral powers they can use for their own purposes in that magic. . What is in reality happening is that the door is opened in her life and yours as well for demonic activity and even possession.
This is real, and you gotta face that.

And you trust him with your soul? Did he really say that, or did you twist your understanding of what he actually said? We are not to be unequally yoked. This is an elementary teaching.

Obstacle upon obstacle. Why do you want to marry a woman with whom it seems as if you have absolutely nothing in common?

Hello, Grace, I haven’t spoken with you in a while. 🙂

To the OP: I’m sure you don’t want to hear this, but Grace is exactly right. Beware of anything or anyone Wiccan. I’m not familiar with the book Grace recommended, but you definitely need to learn more. You also need to seriously reconsider your relationship with your spiritual director, as he does not seem to be pointing you in the right direction. My advice is to give her some reading material and if she doesn’t come around, leave and don’t look back. You are in a very dangerous situation. Keep you distance from her and her “magic”.

Don’t make up excuses, educate yourself.
