Is transgender a sin?

I’m talking about your ignorance of history. Don’t argue from historical evidence if you don’t have the facts. That’s it.

As far as transgender issues go, I readily, freely, and publicly admit my ignorance. Since I know nothing of it, I would not try to speak intelligently on the subject.

You admitted in a previous post that you are no student of history, and yet you tried to argue your position using incorrect historical facts.

Fail.

No no no. If you are referinng to the bettle of Haastings that I mentioned I had the date wrong yes, that doesnt mean I don’t have the gist of what went on… You are nit picking over an exact date because you are a teacher who is into dates and nothing more. The fact that the church left Harold of the Saxons hung out to dry means nothing to you. Or later on thar Angle/Saxon words got vulgarized doesnt matter, its that allmighty date! You want to compare knowledge of history, European history how many German tribes can you name?! I can name more than a dozen myself.

I ,read this on another Thread.
Anyone catch Father Thomas Loya on Relative Radio and he was talking about Theology of The Body & a caller asked the Question.
If someone is Transgender and Science shows these people are born thinking they belong as another Gender. Then what does God think.
He replied God does not make mistakes. Just because you think you should be something else does not mean you should be.
( and he went on but that is the Gist)

That’s one of the worst cop-outs. “God does not make mistakes”. It says something, but nothing of substance. What does that even mean? (I’m referring to what Father Loya said).

I advise you to read again Pathia’s post# 115. She mentions that there is more evidence for something going on in the brain of transsexuals than for homosexuals. And how can we deny the birth of intersex individuals? They didn’t ask for that. I would be confused if I were born this way.

Fact is, reality doesn’t fit sometimes in our nice theological boxes that we want to put God and faith in.

The biological state transgenderism (sorry, don’t know the technical term) is obviously not a sin. Can we end this debate now?

The only thing you’ve been debating is who is ignorant and who knows history. What do you care?

I care that Catholics follow Catholic teaching.
Good. The debate isn’t over because some still hang on to the belief that it’s wrong. And the Church has no teaching on it. That’s the issue. For the many thousands of people like Pathia and others, this is a struggle on many levels. There is no general consensus, so they are left in limbo.

I understand what you’re saying.

But, all one has to do is look at Catholic teaching. Why would it be considered a sin? There is nothing, to my knowledge, in Christian teaching that even hints that it might be. Someone is born transgender. OK, then he/she is as guilty as sin as someone else born with, say, no legs.

How can anyone consider the biological state of transgenderism a sin? Such a stance is retarded.

I wholeheartedly agree. But then you get statements from people like Father Thomas Loya who give pat answers to a very difficult situation. I don’t know, but from reading Pathia’s story, people like Father Loya seem to not be in the minority.

All right. Then I stand by my original assessment that those people are retarded.

I thought you only cared about exact history dates! If you don’t like this debate you need not be here.

If you get ****** over history dates being exact you have a bigger problem than anyone else here. When I was making a point using historical references the date actually was irrelevant and shouldn’t have been posted, but my style of posting usually puts things in like that. I have a stake in this debate because I am transsexual and Catholic. If you don’t like my way of posting then “too bad so sad” its going to stay the way it is. If you think dates are the most important aspect of history, which you seem to imply, you don’t belong teaching history. Don’t say anything about me and my understanding of history again, you are not qualified.

Grrrrr… give it to me, sister!

I like how we’re fighting but are actually one the same side about the whole transgender issue!

Bring it on. Hit me again!

I don
t really like to fight, but I don’t like nit picking getting things side tracked either.

Hey, will you define what “transsexual” is? I think I may be confused. Is it the same as “transgender”?

Please don’t cut and paste some long answer. Give it to me in basic terms.

Most of us that are transsexual mutilate ourselves from a very early age due to the confusion and anger of what our bodies are doing. I tried to hang myself at the age of 8. I took knives and scissors to what was between my legs as early as five.

Can a five year old, sin, by performing self-mutilation I wonder?
