Is "Unlucky" a word that Jesus, Mary or the angels will use in their speech?

Will you as a Catholic use the word “luck” in your casual conversation?

luck |lʌk|
noun [ mass noun ]
success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one’s own actions: it was just luck that the first kick went in | they’re supposed to bring good luck.
• chance considered as a force that causes good or bad things to happen.
• something regarded as bringing about or portending good or bad things: I don’t like Friday—it’s bad luck.
Even though I have Irish blood…I sense that…(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

I agree, I think the question about the word “luck” in particular is a bit of a trap. In some cultures, like the OP’s, “luck” has a lot of ingrained nuance and beliefs about it. That’s much different than the flippant way someone in America, Australia, or the U.K. might use it. In Ireland, the cultural nuance might also be different.

Most Christian people here in America, including me, don’t believe in luck or coincidences because we know God is in control, but we still say “Good luck” sometimes more as a way to wish someone well, like 7 sorrows says here:
i agree. instead of saying good luck to someone, it might be better to say you pray they will have a safe journey or pray for them to get a job or pray they find what they are looking for.
I find that most of the time, people say “Good luck” as a way to wish that God blesses this situation for you in a way that works out well for your benefit. I think its used as short-hand when addressing non-Christians especially, so as not to cause offense or embarrassment by saying “May God bless you.”

please understand dreams are a way of our own mind working things out. A dream should not be taken as a message from the supernatural. The attitude that they are is new age dream interpretaion that goes against Gods commandments.

Specific people in the bible dreamed. Their dreams were direct . ie Joseph and the Angel.

That kind of prophecy remains in Biblical times.

We are all called to be prophets. Our prophecy is in bearing witness to God and the Truth and Jesus

Or the Yiddish Mazal Tov, good fortune has occurred, or its Hebrew equivalent.

yes. Mary would not throw her life at chance.

or fortune.

read the Magnificant. Thats how Mary expressed and thought.

congratulations was a word in your dream?
Mary and Joseph and Jesus would say Praise be to God.

read the Bible

dreams mean nothing besides your mind working through events of the day.

@fide This word was used in my dream. I need to know whether the entity that was speaking to me was godly or demonic based on it when they mention the word “unlucky”.

@Roseeurekacross In this dream I met a male seer whose appearance is young with fair skin, dressed all in white. He seemed gentle and peaceful. I waited for his prediction of my future and he said, “Unfortunately, your life will always be unlucky.” I should have felt very sad and angry, but responded instead, “If it is the will of God that I should be born unlucky, then may His will be done unto me.” Then I woke up. After giving much thought, in my humble opinion, the entity I met in my dream is not an angel or saint but a demon in disguise because he used the word “unlucky” which is a modern worldly language not used by Jesus/Mary/Angels. I knew about this when I was reading the works of a theologian who debunks false revelations. Of course, this is just my guess and I could be wrong.

None of that is from God, in my opinion. I don’t think He would come and say those things to you. But let your confessor guide you in this. Don’t be superstitious and make too much of dreams. Speak to a priest if you can for some guidance in how to handle such dreams.

And don’t let the devil have a foothold in your life. Again, go to confession and speak to a priest about the pressure from your family to pray to their statues.

Well, personally I won’t presume what language God would or would not use. While I don’t think he would use luck, His ways are not my ways and my ways are not His ways.

I’ll find out for sure after I die, and it it’s someone else’s situation I’ll let the Church make the decision as to whether or not it is legitimate.

There are three spirits that can be affecting/influencing a human person:
    • one’s own human spirit, interested in his own happiness/pleasure/satisfaction/etc.
    • God’s Holy Spirit
    • the spirit of evil
I find that for most people, the primary spirit active in his life is #1 above: one’s own self-concerns. As long as that is the case, #3 need not bother, because the person is paying little attention to the gentle whispers of #2.

predictions are totally against Gods commandments. This is just a dream. let it go

you know here i think your mind is firming up you doing the will of God, instead of living a secular life. Its your subconcious at work.

@ShowersofRoses @Roseeurekacross I have one more dream but I won’t be sharing it anymore. However I do record them in my private online diary which I hope, and God willing, be read by an experienced spiritual director or priest. Hopefully, they can give a more accurate interpretations of not only my dreams but my daily life as a God-fearing person.
