Is unrequited love always disordered?

Yes these are very wise words- although I don’t know who the heck 38 special is!! 😛
LOL! A band back in the late 80’s…they were really great…they also did some things in the 90’s. I was a teenager in the 80’s, and miss that music sometimes. 😦

Please pray for us. There may be a chance, but she needs courage, and so do I.

Praise be to God, and many thanks to Our Lady, St Valentine, St Raphael and of course St Jude.

That’s wonderful!

What happened to give you hope?

I contacted her, she said no, I asked her for some parting advice, she seemed to open up, but still said no, but still replied, she said to someone else that she’s weighing things up again. I must’ve rekindled something, it’s not love, it’s not even warm feelings, but I think it might be an awareness of some level of reality. Not saying I really love or trust her yet either, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves, it’s maybe a chance to get to know her again, and that’s enough.

Even more importantly, I feel more peace about it, like I know whatever choice we make now will be the will of God, whatever we decide we’ll decide together (though still apart) but with one thing in common, prayerfulness (and a neurotic tendency to over-think things, one thing we share), so it will be right, and then it will be time to move on with life together or to move on with life apart. If we part, it will be on friendlier terms than last time, and that’s enough.

Still, I have the courage to dare to ask, and to ask fervently the prayers especially of Our Lady and St Joseph, of St Raphael, St Jude, patron of lost causes, and St Valentine, on whose feast day we re-established contact, and you my brothers and sisters, pray for us!

Just a hint. Why not ask for the intercession of St. Therese?

I’m glad that you are finding some peace in it. I think you did good to put your feelings out there. Now, I think going on with your life will have you pointed in the right direction.

We’re back on speaking terms now, taking it slowly, and, indeed, going on with our own lives, which is important.

So, yeah, go St Jude, St Valentine, St Raphael.

Just out of interest, why St Therese? I’ve been asking St Therese’s intercession over another issue for a friend, but who knows.

It’s time to move on–stop regretting what you don’t have, start thinking about the possibilities out there. I believe if it’s meant to be, something will lead her back to you–but otherwise, keep on going with your life and let the memory of what you had, and the pining over what you never had go. Do something symbolic…maybe write one last letter to her, get out all of your feelings—THEN BURN THE LETTER.

Sometimes, you need closure…we all need closure, before officially moving on, and I look at what happened as perhaps that…but, if God has more in store for you both to come together…then, He will move mountains, position situations, warm hearts to make it happen. You have done your part, now go on with your life…and I’m so glad you seem more at peace about it all. God bless!

I just downloaded that song to my iPod…😃 In fact, I went through and downloaded a lot of my favorite 80s songs two weeks ago. . and I’m walking around humming them.

I always meticulously dispose of any reminders (correspondence, photos, souvenirs) of my failed love interests and then I never have a picture to show when someone asks to see how she looked like… 🤷 😃

There there. I agree with the people who say you should be using the energy for other purposes; whether you CAN is another question. When a person is in love, their brain has a pattern of serotonin decrease that is remarkably similar to obsessive-compulsive disorder. I will pray for you. 😦
