I saw a youtube video posted via a Catholic blog (sorry that I don’t know how better to identify it for searchers!) that was of a man who worked at a KFC in China, who would trash pick all the bones thrown in the trash and take them home on the weekend to his rural village, where they treated it like a feast. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, indeed. It was gut wrenching.
Sometimes we have to throw things out, but the attitude of first world entitlement that feels like this is okay goes far beyond the issue of wasting food.
