Is Wearing Immodest Clothing a Sin?

Any other members who’ve been here a while getting a feeling of deja vu reading this thread?

Or is it just me?

🍿

The real question is - is showing ankles a sin? I think that’s what we should be concerned about. Everyone knows that once you show ankles, you are leading a man to lust. After all, a revealed ankle is only the starting point before they’re running down the streets naked!

I started getting deja vu reading modesty threads after being on CAF for a week. 😉

I don’t know does that mean it’s appropriate for me to wear a dress to church? I mean it’s not a sin 😛

Just cause it’s not a sin doesn’t make it perfectly acceptable (and no I’m not talking about ankles)

I like how women tend to get the whole blame for lust issues. Take responsibility for your sins if you expect women to take responsibility for being immodest. I have heard some say that just like in the story of Adam and Eve, women have issues with tempting others to sin, but if women have an issue with that, then men have an issue with blaming others for their sin. Now I DO NOT think either of those are necessarily true, I think that each person has their unique areas of where they sin in their own lives and they SHOULD NOT blame other people for their sin.

Yep, these seem to pop up about every 3 weeks or so.

Ankles, calves, knees…never show a wrist!

Personal responsibility.

What happens is someone starts the thread, someone new posts not knowing what is to befall him/her and is ‘hammered’. Then I can’t help myself but jump in. No reasonable person should respond and post on such threads.

And yes ankles should be covered, I insist. Also, wear socks. No toe cleavage!

I find that there are a lot of modesty threads, NFP threads, and foreplay/acceptable sexual practice threads I find. All of them end up the same way.

And let’s not get started about (forgive my foul language) women in trousers at Mass…

What if this were a thread about women wearing trousers while reading Harry Potter?!?

Can you imagine ? 😛

I haven’t followed NFP or foreplay threads but the modesty and veil threads usually end in the same “blah-blah-blah-blah-blah-blah.”

The veil threads are especially tedious; sometimes feel like saying, “Yes, you are allowed to (but not required) to veil. We already know why you want to do it and why you’re hesitating to do it. If you’re having problems with it, it really is that simple to use a hat instead, or pins, or a scarf, or bin it (frankly I think mantillas look ugly on young women).”

'Tis apostasy, that. You might as well be a progressive-loving-pro-life-occult-indulging-Mass-skipping-cafeteria-Catholicking-hardline-feminist with tendencies towards a favourable view of birth control, gay marriage and making friends with the Anglicans.
