Anything that says is goes beyond the religion is NEW AGE. New age equal the wide door straight to Hell. Only the narrow door lead to Heaven.

the exercise of Yoga itself in my humble opinion is fine, it is how you do this, how your instructor do this. Many Yoga Instructor are involved with New Age and you will be exposed to the new age teaching.

Here is the article where it says, it isn’t suitable for Catholic practicing.

This woman is from Pakistan converted to the Catholic Church after having an incredible miracle from Jesus. On another apparition Jesus told her to get a bible. This tell that you need to stick to the Jesus’s teaching and not seek external power.

I’ll follow the guidance of the Cardinal, Arch Bishop and Priest… thanks.

Pie also goes beyond religion. So does pizza. Are they both New Age? 😛
Nothing in this article says anything about yoga.

Unless it’s got at least a local bishop’s approval, you’re toeing the forum rules here. Unapproved apparitions and private revelations are banned topics.

P.S.

You posted your link twice by the way.

Thank you for pointing out that i could have broken the rule. I went to read them. They say no private revelation this link isn’t a personal revelation so it is ok. Also say no apparition unless approved by a bishop, this women give talks in Catholic church, so she is without question approved.

She repeats what we are told with our faith, read the bible, believe in Jesus Christ, i am with you always etc… if she wouldn’t respect the Catholic faith, she wouldn’t be allow to give talks within Catholic Community or churches. She helped many muslin also to discover who Jesus truly is, the son of God.

Dear God, please allow only love, wisdom and peace to prevail. Protect us in all ways and guide us to the right path. If this is according to your will, i pray that you protect your children from any new age modality. I ask if you can bless anyone on this thread and board in Jesus name. Amen

Oceans of love!

Sorry, that’s not enough. You need some form of documentation. I’ve googled the woman’s name and I can’t see anything of the sort. Is she even Catholic? (No, being allowed to speak in a “Catholic” church or to a Catholic community, as you claim, does not make one Catholic.)

Reading your post, this woman sounds more like an Evangelical. That’s nice but I’ll side with a bishop’s authority in this case.

I have tried to keep quiet, but I just can’t do it anymore. 23 pages is so much more than enough.

Did you know that there’s absolutely nothing in the occult that can hold sway over you if you don’t believe in it? It’s true! Curses, hexes, spells, meditation, yoga, etc. cannot have any effect on you if you simply don’t believe it can.

Second, did you know that pretty-much everything of a spiritual nature is fueled by intention, not object? It’s true! If I’m a Buddhist, for instance, and I utter literally one thousand Hail Marys in a row, without any intention, or focus, I simply say the words, do you REALLY expect those words to have any effect on anything, AT ALL?

Standing in a Church doesn’t make you Christian any more than standing in your drive way makes you a car. It takes honest intention to change one’s inner nature.

This thread is absurd. You cannot corrupt the body by posing the body in various ways, it makes no sense at all. I can guarantee you that various flavors of goth teenagers would take-up yoga THIS SECOND, if it had even half the spiritual properties that some of you think it has. Do you see many goth teenagers doing yoga, or do you see them wearing dark clothes, listening to bad music and smoking?

Yoga can be done, and is done at least in the west entirely as exercise. The yoga most seen in the west is Hatha yoga, and most people who do it are so focused on trying to get into the right positions that they can’t focus sufficiently on intent to accomplish anything that could be considered “occult.” Even the mantras that people sometimes chant are utterly harmless because most of us don’t understand the words, and therefore we cannot actually form the intent to do anything with them. It might as well be gibberish.

For a Christian however, I would recommend approaching Kundalini yoga in particular with a degree of caution, because from what I’ve been able to gather, it transcends physical exercise and moves into the realm of occult science. Kundalini yoga focuses on “awakening” Kundalini energy, and as someone with some knowledge of the spiritual world, I would recommend against practicing this form of yoga, unless someone knew something about spiritual self-defense. Since this is forbidden for Christians to learn, Kundalini yoga would be contra-indicated for anybody not adequately prepared to deal with the consequences.

Otherwise, especially for the Hatha yoga generally encountered in North America, it’s typically just exercise. If one is comfortable with it, then it’s hard to find any meaningful prohibition. If one is not comfortable with it, just don’t do it. But don’t make the mistake of calling a series of stances, or poses some kind of initiation into the occult. It takes a lot more than downward facing dog.

Esther was raised as a Muslim in Pakistan, and would’ve been raised with a hatred toward anything from Hindu India.

Of course she’s not going to say anything positive about Yoga, but she would also be less informed about what Yoga exercise and spirituality entail, than Catholics who do Yoga, because of her background.

A Pakistani is hardly a person to speak without bias against Yoga, regardless of their conversion to Catholicism.

I am a formal Reiki Master Teacher, did yoga and other modality … After praying and asking Mother Mary to guide me with my wrong doing, it didn’t take much time that i got ride of anything to do with new age. I had to pray to have remorse because i couldn’t see the wrong in that. After going to the confession and the priest prayed for me, all of my ability vanished. If this would have been from God, it wouldn’t have been affected.

Kudalini use a serpent energy. Are you sure, you want that in you? It is very dangerous to get caught up in yoga or any new age modality and thinking you are working for God, since this is about love but i can assure, you aren’t serving God at all. You may think you are helping others but you are helping them to lose their soul instead.

New age tendency is to discredit the bible, certainly the Catholic church, discredit the desire to be humble, discredit charity because of all this manifestation and abundance craziness etc… I can name you many other flaws.

Anything that isn’t taught by Jesus, stay away from it. When human will be ready to learn more, Jesus will do so, but until then, our task is to do God’s will and follow Jesus’s teaching without forgetting the Blessed Virgin Mary. We do this with staying close to the Catholic church and her sacrements, charity, being humble and keep desiring to do God’s will while loving him with all of our heart and loving others.

New age is seeking for external power and it worshiping another God that you like it or not, i didn’t think i was but trust me, i was without realizing this. Only grieve and deep regrets come from this, the thought of all the soul that i misguided is unbearable but thankfully, i know that i can pray for them now and you bet i do.

Anyway, don’t get involve with yoga.

I would pray simply Mother Mary if i was you and ask for guidance, clarity and protection. Pray to have remorse once you suspect what you do isn’t Jesus’s teaching, then go to the confession.

Beside praying everyday, i recommend to simply go in nature and go for a nice walk. Doing nice thing for others bring also peace and joy within.

Ditch the yoga or anything new age period. Go back to read the bible

All the best!

Regarding Gulshan Esther. She is a nun, she is called also Sister Gulshan Esther and she is now a missionary. She even have a face book and you can ask her your question directly if you wish. She also wrote a book that you can find easy the name on the internet or the Wikipedia. As per her testimony, she says that we need to go to church, read the bible and participate in the Eucharist basically just like Mother Mary remind us, go back to church, participate to the sacrament especially the Eucharist and Reconciliation, read the bible, etc… She isn’t an evangelist but Catholic and was baptized. Anyway, speaking for myself, she is the main reason why i started to read the bible again and listening to her touch me deeply to see someone with so much faith. Discernment is up to you but again speaking for myself, she was part of the plan to restore my faith and to attend church as often as possible ( with the Catholic church). So her message only brought me closer to our Lord and to trust the bible. In her face book she also warn about new age, i saw this yesterday, so she is without question a servant of our lord. Word cannot describe her but experiencing her love for Jesus while listening to her, is amazing.

All the best and many blessings!

No, yoga is not demonic.

Telling people they’re going to hell for exercising is what’s demonic.

Jala

Jala, i haven’t seen anyone saying such a think on this thread. If someone said that exercising will lead you to hell, i agree, it is very strange. If you are referring to me, read my post 337 carefully please, you will see that i have nothing against the exercise itself but to be careful with the choice of instructor, most yoga instructor are involved in the new age and they will integrate this in the teaching of yoga. I prefer going in nature and doing simple exercise instead or practicing deep breath.

I also recommend that you read this article about the investigation that a bishop in the US conduct.

rootofjesse2.wordpress.com/2011/04/26/yoga-reiki-catholics-why-not/

Blessings to you and love

p.s It is important to educate yourself, it is so easy to get trap into the new modality. New age inspire you that taking the wide door to go to heaven is the way when in truth, it is the opposite. It is the narrow door as per Jesus said that will lead you to heaven. Read the bible and the warning of Jesus regarding this. Also, don’t you find this strange that many instructor got caught up in New Age. Buddha was said to have done meditation and it leaded him to enlightenment, sorry but this is new age. Jesus teach you to make yourself small and be humble, new age teach you self empowerment and to become an ascended master. New age is a wide door that Jesus is talking about, i know this without a doubt in my heart. Please pray and ask for clarity, discernment and the truth to be revealed to you. Ask to be shown your wrong doing and to have remorse about it.

Again, source? I’m having a hard time believing the ‘facts’ on her wikipedia page as it has so many issues. I want something more credible and reliable for Catholics.

Nothing wrong to check the source, just contact her on her facebook.

Anyway, her testimony empowered my faith and the desire to be faithful to the Catholic practice.

All the best!

p.s Agreed that many think they are receiving Jesus message etc… but they aren’t dealing with him, i have no doubt that she is real, but this is me and feel free to research. Her residence is in UK but she travels. I have only gratitude for her and having so much faith because it touched me deeply. I found her story also on a French Catholic board, i couldn’t find anything on the English Catholic but again, just contact her.

This burden is on you, not me. If you want us to accept this woman’s credibility, you have to make the case for it.

I think ‘demonic’ goes too far. However, I do think that people need to be clear headed about what they are seeking when they decide to practice – looking at yoga as embracing a philosophy of kindness and calm seems to set reasonable limits. However, if you fall in with a whacky teacher, RUN!

One of the trap as getting caught up in new age is the philosophy of kindness and love. It seems to be completely innocent and a nice way of approaching life. This is the whole point, most of the message are love, kindness and creating a peaceful world BUT when you least expect it, you are getting caught with the distorted message: Self empowerment, Self love and then later Manifesting. It cans go as far as accepting the message that we are equal to Jesus. There are more distorted messages. You can get completely hypnotize and the first you know, you are questioning the bible, you are questioning the teaching of the church and you get completely lost thinking that you found the way. Do you see the abomination made toward our lord and how hurtful it must be to him. This huge sacrifice that he has done for us and we just toss it in the ditch.

This is what happened to me and trust me, the realization of thinking that i was serving God is awful when in truth i was serving the father of lie. Again, i know that i can pray for other now which bring peace but do i ever wished that i would have never got caught in this new age none sense.

I pray for all of you to listen to the voice of the living God, to stick to the Catholic faith and read the bible.

Love and peace!

Actually demonic possessions are not so unheard of in India as in the West. Didn’t believe in demons and spirits until I experienced oppression myself and also witnessed a Protestant pastor cast out a demon from a sick girl who vomited out a cursed necklace.

The mindset behind yoga might be a cause. Hinduism permeates almost everything in India and I have seen and experienced enough to not chalk all these to a bunch of imaginative madmen or really clever con-men… Obviously if these spirits are not sent by God, where would they come from?

Because you got caught up in the New Age, prior to becoming a Christian is not the result of doing Yoga Exercise, but following the spiritual aspects of New Age teachers.

Also, love of others and acceptance of oneself is part of Christianity.

A person who hates themselves can not love others as Christ did, because in order to love as Christ, we need to be Christ like, which is self-giving, which is love

Self-knowledge is very much part of Christian spirituality.

Sorry you got confused with New Age practices, but it may be that you’re the type of person who is too willing to accept anything that feeds your immediate cause, even false information which some conservative Catholics may tell you.

I’ve done Yoga exercise off and on for over 20 years and never learned or experienced anything you posted above.
